Right then. few questions following on from the mot thread... Its passed, and my sister is thinking of lowering it!!! Its her first car and shes only 18 but shes sick of the 4x4 ridehight.... Now its an early one so its 3 stud and its blooooody clean so a simple drop and rims would suffice... but that being said... what rims? converting to 4 stud is tooo easy so not going that route if it can be helped... banding the steels would be prefered above that tried and tested route... I was thinkin 3 stud gottis but are they the right 3 stud? and more to the point? anyone got any pics of decent 106 rimmage on a pug still rockin 3 stud? haha... Also whats involved in droppin the back end? easy? and is there much scope for adjustment? i.e is it just on the floor or stock, or is there infinate positions? cheers for your help guys.. as I'm sure you can... id now be offering alot of pics to thankyou, if virgin media didnt have such a lame broadband setup!!! ;D

www.suzukituning.com/PSA/Suspension/Lowering.htmThat's a "decent" guide, but you have pretty much no chance of pulling the bar out with a bolt. You need to belt it out from the other side, whilst a mate holds the trailing arm to stop it sliding off the bearings and potentially buggering the seals.

hmmmm good idea on the ax wheels... didnt realise those gt ones were 3 stud... and yeah had thought about the swap to 4 stud and all that... but didnt realy want to loose the feel of the 3 stud... kinda wanted to show it off realy as its just so insane in this day and age haha.... so you think 3x98... hmmm so these lil buggers wont fit lol Gottis.... 3x150

If it's the same 3-stud PCD as a Smart that would open a world of exciting options... Multi-spoke + dish: Smart Brabus: 3-spokes can be WIN: Standard Roadster steels: I could carry on but they're probably a different PCD anyway ;D HC.

Just checked, and its deffo 3x98. You have a choice of Steelies, AX GT alloys, Compomotive MOs (dear but nice) or saxo eastcoast optional alloys (bloody awful) or dare chav spec alloys. The majority of aftermarket wheels offered in 3x98 are aimed at travellers who bought a saxo 1.1 in 2004 on finance and want to put some sick alloys on it. They are all horrible. WIN (but dear) FAIL.

They aren't the same as smarts, but they do share the pcd of the 3 stud axs and saxos. Personally, I'd go 4 stud as the 3 stud brakes are curse word even when in good nick, there are plenty of mid range saxos and 106s to be plundered for it, and the wheel options are a lot greater, I've 2 sets of 4x108 alloys to sell

VTR wheels look good on ph1 106s (coming from someone with a ph1 106 on vtr wheels) as do rallye steels (coming from someone with some rallye steels in my mates garden) Best picture I have of mine on VTR wheels in white Now grey I do plan on banded rallye steels (8.5") when I get a bit of cash dollar.

Adaptors and some Renault Alpine type-ish wheels please.

I'd like that seth. Saying that, the alpine PCD is about 140mm - so adapters are easy made for fitting them on almost any mainstream 4/5 stud idea.
I want some a610 alpine alloys again, regret selling them!

If you like the look of Rallye steels then maybe some AX Forte steels painted white? I can't remember whether they're 14x5 or 14x5.5 but they look quite similar (round holes though).
I've seen AX GT alloys on a 106 and it just didnt look right at all. Can't think of a better looking wheel for the AX though... strange that!

I really like these 'viking' ax wheels. Don't know if they'd look right on a pug though. But I think AXs and 106s look good just lowered on painted stock steelies. ven better on 14' AX GT steels which have a bit more dish. 175 as opposed to 145 iirc.

Just to add to the info from Adam and Limey about the steels, you can't get 14" steel wheels in the UK - all 3 stud steels were 13". Only the European GT's got 14" steels unfortunatley.
How do I know this? Because I tried and tried to get a set for my AX. The dealer had them listed on the parts catalogue but, alas, they were all listed as NFP (No F***ing Part!!)
Part numbers are as follows:
96 045 531 - 5.0x14" steel rim: NFP 96 054 701 - 5.0x14" steel rim: NFP 96 031 952 - 5.5x14" steel rim: NFP
So it looks like sticking with 13's or a trip over the chanel to pick up some GT ones from France, Netherlands etc....

hmmm realy liking the vtr wheels... and i hate them on saxos..... look proper cool on the 106..... that said not a fan of any of the aftermarket ones... (appart from alpine wheels obviously) but then again they were standard to the alpine so that makes no sence..... lol...
had to wait till i got home to check this.... skiving off sitting on the lid of the toilet at work and trying to squint enough to see the pics on this thread via mini opera isnt easy haha.. gave me a headache and made me tired.... lol

Bruce, were they not fitted to the 1.4 Fortes? Or were they 13s? They were standard fit spare on UK GTs (mine had one slung under the rear) and optional winter wheels according to the citroen servicebox.

13" on fortes and mk1a gts, 14" as steel spares for mk1b gts, but most had a 5th alloy.
