A mate is just about to get a renault 21 Savanna estate for his missus, unfortunatley for her it isnt going to remain standard. He is having thoughts of hyrdo or bags, moon discs and just a whole low rider theme (I think). Does anyone have any pics of Renault 21 estates in non standard form? anything will do, be it a good looker or an absolute piece of wibblepoo tbh. pics I need pics. any help appreciated

Hey! That might look quite good in a Euro sleeper way!! Renner savanna almost entirely character free so it's sort of a blnk canvas. Nice and long too so a good sticking should help a lot!

heh 21 turbo estate wagon! The 21 turbo saloon was quite potent esp in the mid range, you could end up with a Volvo T5 killer (minus the build quality and image of course)

image schimage! anything badly-made, tatty-looking and old enough to be on a pension, that can hassle a T5 out of the 3rd lane is a winner! note searching for "21 Nevada" might help, that's the name they gave the 'wagon in mainland europe. For reference and shopping... and the winner of the "guy least able to use a camera in order to get a picture likely to help a car sell" award goes to..... (from cars.uk.freeads.net)

21’s are interesting because they are the only car I know of, which were sold with both transverse and longitudinal engines, and the bulkheads/inner wings are different (longer for the longitudinal engines) so swaps are ‘not possible’. I may be wrong but I believe the estate ones only came in rubbish transverse 1.7 petrol format, while the saloons have the longitudinal 2.0. Perhaps there is a diesel estate, dunno if the diesel engines are mounted longways or acrossways.

Pretty sure the estates could be had in 2.0 form. I'll have to dig out my 'What Car?' 1987 book.
I recall my dad finding them 'exciting', esp in 2.0GTX form. Clearly not exciting enough, because he bought a Montego instead. Moron!

I almost T boned one of these on a roundabout, it was crewed entirely by chavs, It tried to entice me to race down a dual carrigeway affair, then sped off whilst I braked for a roundabout, it just attempted ot maintain speed and spun out whilst I pootled by looking vaguely amused.
Made nice sparks when it hit the curb though!

I had to drive an automatic 1.3 HL montego saloon once - every time you kicked down for an overtake (planned well inadvance obviously) the glove box dropped open and the bonnet release let go Shocking cars

I've got a 92' 21 GTX which I paid just over £200 for. As a workhorse It's quite quick (ok swift rather than quick), Very comfortable, Economical on a run and Reliable. Having said that, It's rather souless. It looks like a 5 year old car underneath and despite 100k on the mileage It's still very tidy inside. I get the impression that the first few owners were very carefull with it. I've heard bad things about the 1700 but I've never had one so it's hearsay...
