Bad news guys!
My background is Polish, my wife is Polish and we go to Poland at least once a year. Yes, all those retro cars look cool but under the (corroded) bodywork most are bodged beyond belief.
Back in the 1990s/early 2000s, Poles dragged all sorts of knackered wibblepoo from Germany, Holand, Belgium, Italy, France... and "repaired" it by any means possible. Where replacement parts or panels could not be found alternative methods of repair were applied. You would not believe how much body filler goes into a Polish repaired car! Cut and shut! Oh yeah - more common than you could possibly believe.
Also, Polish roads are in bad shape and as a consequence cars suffer extensive suspension wear. In the winter months, massive amounts of salt are spread all over the roads. As a result, many cars are suffering from terminal rot.
Whilst these cars look great in photos posted on an internet auction site, I am sure most of them are merely piles of scrap, albeit cheap and interesting scrap.
Good luck to anyone that ventures out to buy a car from Poland!
