Aye, worth it for the whole adventure and a fine selection of oddball motors, but not as cheap as I would have thought, I bet stuff thats not on an international auction site is better priced, you'd just have to find it. Yep.... I've noticed this too with houses........ checked out Southern France and Northern Spain last year and the local prices compared to the prices of the British agents advertising on the internet are much lower.

i think I'm with pop up on this one ,expensive curse word ,i like curse word but not expensive curse word:)

Lets clear up car terms: "Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence. "Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

I think I'm with pop up on this one ,expensive curse word ,i like curse word but not expensive curse word:) You're not looking hard enough then. I'm surprised at some of the value of cars on there, a Cuore like mine for over £2k, and a Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon for almost 8 grand! I sold mine for 2.5k! But if you look harder, there are lots of Ladas, Polski Fiats and Skodas for under £500, and most seem to be in much better nick than I've seen for sale here.

OOhhhhhhhh those stacklight Mercs are crazy cheap, can someone translate the ads? are they mechanically sound?

The Internet, like all tools, if used improperly, can make a complete bo**cks of even the simplest jobs...

translate.google.comNot fantastic, but should gie you the gist of the ad's .... I'm a big fan of cheap stacklights, but very little info to translate. Indeed. I find the Google Toolbar to be even better for translating. The stacklight merc ads give no idea of condition, but they don't look bad in the pictures. I'm guessing the look after their cars better than we do in the UK, and they probably don't grit their roads with salt, too. A few more retros. 1984, price £1200. ( otomoto.pl/dacia-1310-jeden-wlasciciel-garazowany-C10016161.html ) Seems expensive next to this 1990 one which is only £214. ( otomoto.pl/dacia-1310-C11240355.html ) £450 doesn't seem excessive given the condition of this Fiat 127. I'd imagine the price could be haggled down too. barely looks used... ( otomoto.pl/fiat-127-C11333791.html ) £1900 buys a Chevrolet, in need of engine work I believe. But it is from 1953, allegedly. And very nice. ( otomoto.pl/chevrolet-bel-air-C9019973.html ) Have to wonder what happened to this. Not exactly cheap at £1625. But it is currently SORNed in the UK. ( otomoto.pl/fiat-x-1-9-1-5-63-kw-tp-anglie-C11336400.html ) Skoda 105 is only £160. ( allegro.pl/show_item.php?item=903233859 ) £420 for this Fiat 125p. Worth every penny just for the interior... ( otomoto.pl/fiat-125p-model-dla-kolekcjonera-C11339942.html ) Finally, my favourite. Bidding currently at £321. ( allegro.pl/show_item.php?item=904742958 ) If anyone is actually serious about wanting to go on a roadtrip to Poland as a holiday/sightseeing thing (with the possibility of buying cars ) I know several other people who are interested in doing so - although none of us speak Polish. I reckon it would be even better if the route included touristy places such as the Nurburgring, Stelvio pass and other such places. It might need to be 2011 before I am able to go, however.

Ok, i changed me mind after seeing those Mercs, but it would depend how nice they are underneath, given that they'll do less than 20mpg on the way home it could still be quite expensive.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Just found this epic example of a modified trabant... Plexiglass roof The description (roughly translated) reads... I have moments so describe it. Baby was taken from the ground up, the bottom center of the floor maintenance + brake jaws. Spring 2009 Buda, as you can see the roof was cut plexiglass insert / I have all the backup / wide fenders and thresholds of laminate, back slightly tattered. dzwi to have a new gasket was not assumed, upholstery, console, and seats from Fiat 126p / imitation leather edged with dark gray cloth, blue floor carpeting. The roof liner mounted LEDs lighting associate with krancówkami in dzwiach / ściemniające slowly / dzwiach LEDs in red / light up when you open / no engine to overhaul - mileage 650km orginalna clutch friction disc lining with new malucha.Nówka shaft hurt 550zł / rings and pistons also a new nominal remanufactured carburetor. Auto automobile fanatic just for DDR. Normal man does not give advice. Smoke and drive a car is no overview ow. Feel free to call even at night. Greetings to Father Rydzyk and the lack of people power! Currently bidding is at £45. ( allegro.pl/show_item.php?item=894124769 ) This Mitsubishi Colt looks suitably retro too... and I don't think it is bad for £128. ( allegro.pl/show_item.php?item=900084359 ) Slightly more money, but this Pontiac is cool as. Fitted with a Merc 300D engine, it is a shame there are no more pictures of it. It does cost £5353 though. ( otomoto.pl/pontiac-le-mans-C7916822.html ) Finally, this Polonez is very nice. But you'd expect it to be for £963. ( otomoto.pl/polonez-1-5-borewicz-1-wlasciciel-C11263543.html ) I really should stop looking at that site...

I wonder what the legality would be of buying that, insuring it on the chassis number and booking an MOT in the UK so you could drive it back... As long as it has a Registration Plate from the country of origin, you can import it, insure it on the chassis number, and run it here for up to 6 months before you are required to re-register it on a UK number. During that 6 months, it would be exempt from MOT and tax, as it's not a UK-registered car?

It can be quite hard to insure something on a VIN number in the UK for more than 30 days, I've never managed it. Most recently being last week, I now have three weeks left to get it registered and the insurance company will be happy. Is anybody else enjoying the irony of us lot drooling over a load of tat on a website called Allegro? Oooh

Wanna write a feature on an RR member's road trip to pick up Eastern European tat, and the 1000 mile journey home? lol
