Here's a couple of progress photos of WR963 as promised. Compare them to the pics on page 1 and you'll see how far we've come: Just got a job here! Spotted the Shack parked out side and thought I recognised it. If you're ever about in the week come say hello!

Hi Tom,
Whereabouts are you working there? There's often a few of us about during the week, but mainly on Saturdays.

Awesome job. You'll probably bump into us all then at some point. They have some really nice toys at Classic Flight/Classic Aircraft Trust/Airbase, so no doubt you're going to busy.

Just realised this thread isn't quite as up to date as it could be... I will start putting some more stuff up, but if you want a quick peek before I photo overload the place, here's an up to date thread: forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=102256Rich

Hi all,
On Dec 15th we're due to carry out a ground run of Shackleton WR963 at Coventry if anyone is interested. Its a scheduled run as part of our upkeep of the aircraft as she has been quiet since September. The run is usually carried out around 1300hrs, but you're welcome to get there a bit earlier if you choose. Bear in mind that now Airbase is closed, your entry won't cost you anything but you will be restricted somewhat on where you can walk about in the immediate area.
This is not a taxy run, as there's still a few little niggles to be resolved with No 2 engine before we can wake it up. Taxy runs are still on the cards though for next year, as the aircraft is staying at Coventry.
WR963 will be open for inspection, but we will be asking for a donation on the door of the aircraft. As is usual there are no barriers inside or outside, so if you fancy a sit in the Boss's chair or want a close up look at a particular widget, be our guest and do so! There may also be spaces available on the aircraft during the run.
Come on over and help support Avro Shackleton WR963!
Kind regards,
Rich W Shackleton Preservation Trust

Haha! Flying the Shackleton for any event would be awesome... but the chances of that are a good few years away!

Hi all, Sorry for the lack of updates! Things have come a fair way since the last update - we've taken the decision to try and restore the Shackleton to flight; with the civil registration G-SKTN being allocated to WR963 in February this year. Following shortly after, at the beginning of March we finally managed to get the fourth engine running; after having to take the propellers off a copule of times to attend to various parts of the pitch mechanism. Anyway... On Saturday 11th May WR963 will be carrying out her monthly ground run, at Coventry Airport. Engine start is at 1pm, local time, access is through the West Gate at Baginton, and limited parking spaces are available near the DC6 Diner. While there's no entry price to get in to the airport to see WR963, sadly we are having to now charge for access into the aircraft itself, both static and during the ground runs. Its now £5 for aircraft tours and £25 for a place on the Shackleton during ground runs. Remember, this is currently the only place in the UK where you can see, hear and feel a live Shackleton, and one of only two left running in the world, so if you're out and about come down and say hello! Regards, Rich
