Well this is Percy, (name courtesy of my girlfriend). Picked him up last night and drove no problem. Had a bit of trouble this morning though, the car wouldnt start, seems the standard alarm was having a fit. Doesn't like it if you lock the car with the passenger door, then open it with the drivers :? It also has a aftermarket immobilizer. There's two switches inside the car, one seems to switch off the factory alarm and the other one I'm not sure. Needs a few bit painting and tidying and a good service, but other than that its a pretty uptogether car I bolted on the Mondeo 5 spokes just before I gave it a wash, I'm quite pleased with how looks 8) I can't for the life of me seem to get this damn stereo out, any suggestions lol? I've tried using the stereo keys but it doesn't seem to free it so I can remove it. :? This is the aftermarket immobilizer, and the 2 switches...can anyone shed some light? I have no idea what this does. This one seems to switch off or do something to the standard alarm. So what do you think guys? :DD

Nice Sierra, what's it likle underneath? If it's solid, slap some protection on now before tin worm has a chance to set in.

Thanks guys. Underneath its good, not immaculate but the sills aint crunchy, chassis legs are good and the back arches etc are good. One seat mount will need doing sometime, but other than that its good. Now the warmer weather is up and coming undersealing will take place.

Nice looking car that.As far as the stereo goes, you could try unscrewing the recess underneath it, and pop that out, then you shoud be able to push the stereo from behind through that gap.might help being able to wiggle, and use keys at the same time.Ive taken these stereo's out with jewlers screwdrivers before! As for the switches, not totally sure, but if the cars got internal sensors, one of those switches(prob not the big one), could well turn them off, so if the dogs/kids/camel are in the car whilst it's locked and alarmed, when they move, it won't register, and the alarm won't keep going off.Same if you leave the window/sunroof open a bit whilst locked on a hot day.Or not. Dan ;D

Agree with danburger, just smash the stereo from behind ;D
An old alarm might be tricky to get working properly, i've ripped lots and lots of cables out of a sierra that just wouldn't start, Finally i just made a button for the starter after trying to make everything else as close to stock i could.

The head unit in my old Sierra was a curse word to remove before we discovered it was also held in place with a small bracket at the rear of the unit. Removed the nut/bolt, bingo!

If you put the pins in till they click, then push them to the outside of the stereo it should release, you cant just pull straight back.
My dad had a load of these when they were moddern (3 or 4 i think) and they were quite funny about which order you locked and unlocked. We were told 'only use the drivers door!!'

Yup, the breakdown guy said "drivers door only!" He said he's had a few and there lovely cars but the alarms aren't alot of cop. And yes, I ended up levering the stereo out after numerous other attempts. Its looking rather worse for wear now ;D Modern(ish) sound now though

Today I flushed and re-filled the cooling system. The previous owner recently changed the cambelt and w/pump but I don't think he re-filled with anti-freeze. So I decided to rectify the situtation. Filthy exspansion tank... Mmmm lovely. Took a couple of flushes to get it clean. I took the tank off to clean it, couldnt get it sparkling but its a big improvement none the less. 8) Thats one job out the way!

Well the waterpump started to leak quite badly, so since I got the week off work I had a go at sorting it. I didnt take many pictures, since I'm sure many off you have a seen a CVH taken apart lol ;D I took the radiator out, this I never done when I done changed the HG on Darcey. Made things FAR easier. All done. The waterpump wasn't duff, so it must of been the sealant failing. From what I could tell when I cleaned the faces up, the previous owner didn't remove all traces of the old gasket from the previous waterpump. Scraped it all off with a stanley, cleaned up and whacked a healthy dose of blue sealer on and all back together. I haven't filled up and ran the car yet - I'm letting the sealer go off for 24 hours as per the packaging said. But manged all this in 2 1/2 hours - not bad going I say for a ameteur
