Just wondering if anyone is going to lemans this year? I am (hence the thread!) going in a convoy consisting of my mk1 golf gti, my brothers tr6 engined gt6 mk3, dads tr6 (in the pic), uncles stag, a morgan plus 8, another gt6, and possibly a noble/gt40 replica, depending on what the fella gets!

Are we talking about the Le Mans classic? I’m going to that, all booked up already. Lovely job.

i presume you are speaking about the Le Mans 24heures as opposed to the classic?
I'm going to the 24, should have a fair few of us cruising out there. And if all goes well i'll get to blast the bug on those french roads ... oh i cant wait!

no i meant the 24heures one, its mint...also looking forward to the drive! My dads tr6 was a concours winner in south africa, but he doesnt do all that business, he actually uses it although its unusually clean always!

Can get some more pictures of it....He has got rid of those hideous wire wheels too, replaced them with the steelies! Gotta get some pics of my bro's gt6 daily driver, its a beast!
I went down to lemans in the tr6 last year, i swore i was gonna die, hated being the one who decided if it was safe to overtake, I played it safe and said no a lot, my dad just went for it!
The drive is gonna be mad, hopefully *knocks on wood* all the bits I'm replacing on my golf now wont go wrong on the journey!

i love the overtaking adventure, its the best part of being passenger!!! I was navigating and doing the overtaking for a guy i had only met that morning. Fair play to him, he had a lot of faith in me!! ;D

Mad! What car did u go down in? The chap I'm taking this year cant drive, so its gonna be a little scary for him, and for me! Got overtaken by a series of Lambos, and a Pagini Zonda, which was gorgeous! Its an amazing beer fuelled few days, i love checking out the rides in the camp site!

we went down in a Seat MPV. Cant remember its name, but ideal for that journey. The other car was a RS escort, the journey was so harsh and hot we got there and he threw up and passed out!! Air con can be a wonderful thing sometimes! ;D
we were in some 'exclusive' campsite a few miles outside le mans and I'm going to try and get there again. The whole place is FULL of the NICEST cars, and they have a massive sound off competition (with engines!). Then you get back on the sunday pm and they set up a huge free buffet with the F1 on a massive screen outside. Definitely the best holiday i have ever been on.

sounds cool! Not sure what campsite we were on (near the roundabout where everyone drifts around?!), but last yr there was the lotus club down the way a bit, a beautiful detomaso pantera near us, AND we were near a pub, happy days!
Last yr my bro took his freelander sport, i was most jealous of the air-con and comfy seats! Just gonna have to try it with the sunroof open, windows down and system up!

Oooh, i'm looking forward to this now, it will be my first time, Le Mans virgin as it were! - I should be going down in the 'White Elephant' (What I've affectionately christened the wedge) If its still going! So it it'll be me that you'll be overtaking on the way ;D TR6 BTW looks 'rawking'

Are we talking about the Le Mans classic? I’m going to that, all booked up already. Lovely job. I'll be at the Classic too, done both and far preferred the Classic a few years ago. highly recommend it if you're at all tempted. Not quite as raucous as the contemporary race, but the machinery is incredible... Hearing a 917 peddling on, let alone seeing one was a highlight. ;D

I'm camping at Tertre Rouge as normal and I'll be there in this... ...289 powered Zodiac gasser burnout machine. Some of you may remember our epic open header burnout at Arnage in 2004. Loads of cool pics and a bit of story from our 2004 adventure here: www.jonny69.co.uk/lemans.htmlJon

I went to the Classic in 2004, it was freakin ace except I saw some poor bloke walking through the paddock get hit in the face by a firework, what a mess.
