As most of you are aware I purchased a couple of items from ebay.de before xmas. I've just had contact about the items / payment, but have noticed that the seller has just recieved 2 bits of negative feedback saying that money was sent to him but no items were sent...... What do you reckon I should do: Send the money and keep my fingures crossed? or Leave the seller negative feedback to say that he never contacted me (I won the items Xmas Day and only got a message from him yesterday)? The thing is, the items I won are a bit like golddust in the UK......!

how much $$$ is the item? if he has strong positive feedback i would still be tempted to take the chance if the items were that rare in the UK

Send the money, then when you get the items, neg his @ss anyway – always better to be safe than sorry.
Obv if you don’t get them, neg him also.

hmmm ... i dunno then. It always concerns me when ebayers are quiet for long periods of time, and to have not contacted you for so long is a bit ridiculous. Did he say why?

Contact the seller and ask him if he'll accept paypal.... maybe offer to cover the 4% for him. That way if your goods don't turn up within an acceptable timeframe, you can 'pull' your payment back. If he's running a shop or business via the net / eBay it should be perfectly possible for you to pay by credit card (& thus have protection against being ripped off)

Don't get involved (don't send money)!
Sorry, its just is not worth it.
In my opinion (own experiance) a lot of items in the vehicle world on ebay seems to be iffy/a problem in some way (be it the item or the seller). I realise i've just generalised but in recent times from my own experiance and from what is being said in the Media (yes, I know you shouldn't believe what you read in the papers etc.) ebay has attracted A LOT of loonies.
Also having said all this there is many a genuine seller who has problems with potential purchasers!
Ebay at present is going through 'a very bad patch'.

He hasn't got a paypal account (apparently it's very rare to find a seller on ebay.de to have one.....!) Most people in Germany use bank transfers!
I sent the guy 4 emails asking about payment and P&P etc, but the mail I got yesterday basically said that he was still awaiting payment for the items?? - he still hasn't confirmed tohe P&P cost either....??

I bought an item with buy it now on .de about a month ago, all I've had is a mail in German telling it's out of stock for five weeks... It cost me £21 incl. delivery, so I'm going to take a chance and wait until the end of the month, this guys got great feedback and loads of it, so I'm just going to ignore the fact he sold something he didn't have... If you can afford to loose the money, and walk away with no recourse, do it. If not, steer clear and neg him without a second thought. The item I've bought isn't available in the UK either, and my guy had UK based feedback, you can only do so much.

I bought a couple of things from Germany on eBay no problem. But I looked at a few items and asked if they'd ship tot he UK and some time you have to wonder if you mistranslated to "I wish to sleep with your mother" judging by the responses I got....

I have had pretty good experiences with German Ebay, but TBH they do seem to work to a totally different timeframe...... its not like over here where you win and generally you get the part the same week.
Remember you may be dealing with someone who speaks no English at all, has never dealt with a foreign ebayer before so does not know about Babelfish etc, and may need to find a freind who speaks english before they can reply.
As Irol said, if you cant afford to lose the 70E then don't do it, send it registered post which needs to be signed for the other end, then at least you have some comeback if he says it never arrived.
Be patient, as I say its not like dealing over here, but I have bought sets of wheels, spoilers, dampers, mirrors etc to the tune of about 500-600euros so far, from different German sellers without a problem to date.

You're right, the seller doesn't speak any English - but I've been sending him emails in German written my German colleague at work I think I might just send the money recorded and keep my fingers and toes crossed....

The obvious point to make in any Ebay activity is that you should be in contact with the seller rather than us. Surely the best thing to do is email or call him and talk to him about it. Tell him your concerned, ask him to send the goods before you pay, etc etc. But talk to him.
Boring advice but sensible.

Charlie Good advie, but considering I've already sent him 3 email regarding all this and he never got back to me, I'm not sure a fourth would do much good! Phonning him is out of the question......he don't speaka no English, and I don't speaka no German.....!
