Anyone who saw myself and OldBus trying in earnest to kill the Nissan would know we had a total blast. I have a proven engine for the GT6 and OB is now collecting bits for the escort wagon ;D
Don't know if anyone else was affected the same way - but drift type4's, mid engine Mk3's and all sorts were on the planning board that evening!
Excellent job and loved every second of it - BRING IT ON ;D
John
EDIT *** - I personally thought it a MASSIVE mojo booster - for those hammering their pride n joy and those thinking 'mine will be done for this next year' - I truelly haven't a bigger incentive to finish the GT6 for anything more important to me than the RR track thrash

Thoughts: Id just like to point out to those wanting to go round opposite way to last year, that there is a nasty lip as you come out of the hairpin, going opposite way round could creat quite potential 'air' as you go into it and I could see a few cars getting stuffed into the banking... if ya get me.. ..or am I being unreasonably concerned? Nope, I came out of the that tight downhill left hander in a Caterham a few years back and ended up almost on the spectator ridge on the top of the banking! From a spectator POV the high banking or the side of the show field are both great to watch from, the end of the straight by the tight RH corner was a good spot for the late brakers, but we got moved on by the staff, if this area could be made safer you could get some great shots here, it would only need a spectator barrier set further behind the armco to be safe, the closest anyone got was the Sierra that locked up and slid into the tyres and that was in no danger of getting out, the speeds aren't fast enough. This was shortly before I got moved on Directly relating to this, I'm sure there are a number of photographers up for it, perhaps even with press passes to do so - have a few designated snappers at different vantage points that can snap some lovelies up close and personal with the cars. Some of the best shots I've ever had have been taken with a foot on the track. One magazine shot was taken hanging out of the passenger door of a drift car... More thoughts not directly relating: Saturday would be good to get in some practice runs or whatever. However I think Haynes would most likely be against this but I see the potential for a two-day show event over there - the main attraction being Sunday, but with some spice on the Sat. Someone with experience may want to volunteer (or be approached) should our resident-in-self-exile coordinator not do so? Also, one more, after you've got permission for the photographers to be in exclusive positions of greatness, they should then upload all their photos to a collective laptop and High Quality images printed out on photo-paper for a modest fee. Re: track, it's all good, keep the pre-booking option like last year and I'll be going round as much as I can

Maybe it would be fun to have a dirt/gravel track too to get some less powerfull cars into sideways action?
may be fun to see what different setups do for you on a different surface..

yep, i thought from a spectators point of view it was great, short enough gap between cars that our kids didn't get bored and the view from the bank was good, hopefully i'll be on the track this year myself (In a transit! :S )

Hmmm I remember that.............did give a great photo though ;D Both days would be amazing, as the track is giving me enough mojo to get my back from Germany for a week and prep the car for this years RRG. So yeah change nothing, just more of the same. Well I might change my car a bit as it wasn't fast enough

How about some big signs with directions for ColonelK so he doesn't get lost and have to cut across the grass? ;D ha ha ha! Perfect otherwise - looking forward to giving it a go this year HC.

I juast spectated last year and in my opinion it was great I could get a lot closer to the track that I was expecting to be able to, and got some good pics assuming my mg ever gets finished, i'd be up for some laps too

Not a bad idea, some signs to direct you into the first lap loop and then the second lap finish would be useful, also someone near the start line to wave a red flag if someone carries onto a third lap

I wasn't brave enough to go on it last year in my turbo imp as I drove it down on the day and back which totalled 500 miles in one day - just after the weekend before where I covered 500 miles!
This year though as the imp national is on at the same time iv decided to trailer it down so I can go crazy!
Only one issue, the imp nationals main day is on the Sunday, annoyingly same day as the track so what would work for me and maybe others if demand is higher to have the track available on Saturday as well.
That way I can Smeg (yes currently watching Red dwarf lol) my car up then show it the day later, and still not win lol

you cheeky buggers hahaha, I wasnt the only one getting lost! I was just having too much fun and my brain wanted to carry on! Track was perfect, nice and slidable, with a few tricky sections Hope to have the hydro handbrake in this year, and also to remember to pull the ABS fuse! DOH.

I think two days of track action would be ace, otherwise, like has already been said, we might have a problem getting everyone on track! I for one will have the 205 done (Yep, the mythical one ) and will want to give that a bit of a ragging, and the DoKa might be fun as well!! I have asked for a nice shiny helmet for my birthday ( I couldn't resist ) so bring it on I say

I can't wait for the track this year - I had a right laugh in the Lupo which didn't have handling OR power. This year I'll be bringing the 106, which has both.
The setup last year was excellent, perhaps have an extra lap "per run" Because by the time you'd got settled in, you were coming off.

how about aswell as paying for 3 runs, have an 'all your car can take' option for running all day? maybe an extra £10 each or so?
depends how many would want to do it though, make sure everybody gets at least 1 set of runs then whoever wants more pay an extra £10 for as many as they like?

i think the only issue from a spectator point of view was the gaps in track time, if it would be possible to get the next car lined up to go as soon as the other stopped and brief the next lot of drivers while the current lot are still driving then this would mean less in the way of gaps and no sitting watching an empty track.
other than that i think everything was good. hopefully will have a car to stick on it this year.
