it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Heartbeat drifts around in a non-specific era of nostalgia really. I didn't think it was supposed to be any particular year otherwise by now they would have to be in about 1984.
Heartbeat get people writing to them complaining every time they see a Herald or radial tyres or something. I read somewhere theres a guy who writes in every week with "what you got wrong in this episode"
I don;t watch it.
It does annoy me when "period" settings are wrong. I watched some drama set in like 1976, birth of punk and all hat, and they had Mk5 Cortinas and Mk3 Capris (on fake L, M and N plates)

I can't help thinking that the majority of viewers neither notice or care. Which makes us lot look very sad.

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Heartbeat used to be OK when it was based on the original books, but its now a 'generic sixties' show and all sorts of things crop up like a 'G' reg beavertail Ford D type recovery vehicle picking up a 'new' Mk1 Cortina on a 'E' plate.....Ho Hum!

You both raise very good points (AND I am probably very sad ...in my own little sad /strange world ;D) My point is although I accept little mistakes (due to unavalibilty of kit etc) it seemed very stupid to put an MG of the 1950's in an era set in WW2, plus FACT MG's of the pre war era ARE quite plentiful in relation to a lot of other cars of same era so obtaining one for filming would not be a problem. If things aren't kept in check we'll have 'Foyle' from 'Foyles War' arriving at the crime scene in a Ford Mondeo! ;D OR perhaps the Roman Army in 'Rome' arriving at the battle scene in Transit Mini Buses ! ;D ;D ;D **Now where is my anorak **

There was a drama on years ago that sticks in my mind, it was set in the 60's and had a gang of young lads riding round in a Vauxhall Ventora FD with an odd coloured door... Having owned a few FDs I have to say thats entirely possible with the quality of Vauxhall's paint... In Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) - the original not the painfull Vic Reaves remake - the FD Victor used was a brand new car and yet was often seen to break down or be "in the garage".
