I've also posted this in the wtd section looking for a mobile mechanic or knowledgable local RR'er ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
Well just before Christmas I parked my car (volvo 340 with Williams Clio engine) on the driveway. The next day I got in it and the fuel empty light was on, i'm sure it wasn't that low or on when I parked it?
Anyway I drove down the road and it "spluttered" and coughed once, I guessed it was the tank swapping as 340's have a reserve tank. Drove to the garage, filled up and it was fine. The next day it did it again only worse, coughing and I think miss firing, it wouldn't rev over 3k but back of the accelerator put foot back on it and its fine?
The fault got worse to the extent it sounded like it was on two cylinders and could barely drag itself back onto the driveway, this is where it has stayed un moved for the last couple of weeks.
So far I have removed the inline pump/filter this was not blocked and you can hear it prime on ignition so I pressume it's working fine. I removed the fuel pipe to the filter in the engine bay and fuel is getting through to that.
I've removed the leads and checked I have a spark on each plug, it did. Also checked Dizzy cap, no visible wear/cracks and it was dry inside. I removed the flywheel speed sensor cleaned and replaced.
I've also checked the idle speed controler to make sure it's not seized a common fault apparently on this engine, but it wasn't.
Basically it will idle for 20 seconds or so sounding fine then just drop off and die. If you try to start it again it won't unless you give it some throttle, the minute you come off idle it dies.
It also still sounds like it's still missfiring it sounds fine though, no mechanical broken nastys inside.
So i'm stumped, has anyone got any ideas or could help me out of this pickle for some monies?
I'm in Epsom, Surrey
Cheers
