whent out for a little drive down some back lanes (in the absolute middle nowhere and a bit) this afternoon and all was well. next minute on a 3rd to 2nd down change (double-de-cluched) there was a horrible noise and a bang and it was all over forn number 2 as i was miles from anywhere i got 3rd and kept it in that until i reached civilisation. I checked and i still had 1st,3rd and 4th so i nursed it towards home, got off the M4 onto a big island just outside FForestfach (sp) at rush hour and had to stop at 3 sets of lights going round it. first 2 sets fine - 1st - 3rd sound. last set put it into neutral, clutch up and it was really noisy. Lights whent green i put it in first and whent to pull away - BANG - then the cluch smoked itself a bit and no drive. so i got out and pushed it through 3 lanes of rush hour maniacs trying to kill me and up a kerb and onto some grass ( how i did it i don't know - must have been adrenalin, you here of these women who lift cars off people - i was like that!) 2 of my mates came and towed me home so is back safe, however I'm now in the predivcament of it being on a hill, with no drive and i have no gear box. did i mention this car hates me...mmmm....yes i think i did last week when the engine blew up. I F**KIN HATE CHEVETTES.

(sorry about the massive pictures photobucket is playing up) I have 2 other boxes but they are both destroyed. Thanks for the offer Dom but I'm 99% sure the kadett box wont fit. i think a C5 is a good option.

Last box I blew was in a senator 24V - flat out in fourth (the wrong side of 130) just starting to creep away from a scooby shifted to fifth to finish the lesson and got third instead
*/%^$£(*"^£ Oooops
took the rev counter of the scale before something decided enough was enough and I lost drive in more than one gear from that point
Limped it home and swapped the box out and re-bushed the linkages on the new one like I should have done before I fitted the gearbox in the first place

Knowing what you can do, I'm sure it'll be back on the road by middle of next week at the latest I experienced a similar situation to you a couple of weeks ago in the Polo. I came off the M25 and rolled up to the end of the slip road and the engine cut out and and wouldn`t restart, my G/F was getting a bit worried so I pushed it arcoss 2 lanes of traffic uphill onto the verge, I don`t how it!

Watch out for next week's post: "I've blown my rear axle up" ...Only joking (I hope!)
|
|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.
