I have been thinking recently...about MG Bs they have 'roadster' protential. now, if you will excuse the poor photoshopping you can see what i mean below : smoothed out doors, cut away windscreen, and low. anyone else agree?

And why not If you want a cheep, affordable Classic/retro car to play with then you can't go far wrong Spares are every where as are tuning mods (And the B Series engine lends it self to moding no problem, plus it's very simple) Don't bother with the clubs etc... a lot are just concours bonkers only-use-in-dry-summer loonies. MGBS are cheap fun and I speak from experiance (Me, I prefere the GT ).

From what I hear the F and new TF (not the wounderful 1950s TF) are no better at reliability than a B.
...so get a B it will be a lot cheeper.

at least you wont have to replace the sills and the manky front suspension every fortnight on the TF tho.

Oooooh that hurt ;D ;D ;D But ...with a GT version the roof holds it all together as well so sills ain't so much a problem ;D ** Stuffs in newspaper, cuts carboard to shape and skims with polyfiller ** Front suspension ...thicker grease ...and I mean IN the lever arm shock absorbers! ;D MG B - and B stands for BODGING

I have some pics of some of roadsters like this. I am biased but when I was looking into a first car I always wanted the BGT, but got a midget instead Glad i did. But the I love the GT just everything about it for me feels right and as twincam says they are so easy to work on and parts are cheap as chips (Apart from Front wings). If i was to so that to a roadster I would loose the Power reducing rubber bumpers and fit the smooting sebring front and rear Valence, your basically there then. Front dampers yes are totally pants, I bought the uprated version a while back just to find out they just use thicker oil so boohoo i got ass raped for them then. Use this as a chance to post an image of mine LOL P.S. Outer sils on the BGT are not Structurally bound, however you will fail your MOT if the guy does not know this if there is a hole. The Inner Sill has all the structure (basically just Boxsection. I found this out when After restoring the car i welded un-treated outer sils which soon rusted. Talking to MGOC Manager he stated this, and advised me on the course of action. Usually would not be bothered about changing a sill but they are pants on the MGB as they go under the front and back wing thus removing both to fit. Its ok with the front one but not the rear as this is Welded. Thus me making the investigation on the car. Hope MGOC got it right LOL

In the early reply I was only joking about sills, and did have an MGB GT fail on just outer sills (Yes, I was supprised inners weren't rusty). BUT I did not ever know that fact I just went away and did as was told .

heheh was not meant in a funny way buddy, just sharing the knowledge as they say. I will dig the e-mail out from MGOC on the issue. I think it was also posted some time ago on MGCARS.org forum .
I would of just done the job like the restoration guys do but with the car all perfect I hate Patching plates on stuff. I prefer to just fit new sections.
When mine failed on them, the MOT guy said its too close (A 2cm hole by 0.5 cm hight) to the Seat belt mount Yet take the outer sill off and there is no mount hole. Dumb ass guy he was LOL.
Like the B series lending itself to modding eaisly LOL bloody expensive though. hehehehe
