well my beige shell is going down to sit in a field out of the way under a sheet untill i can decide what todo with it .......bought out the paper which said good runner VGC suit collector........hmmm knackered engine and caved in passenger door requiring a VIC check......oh well parts and project car. always fancied a RWD mk1 and quite keen on going for a Volvo 2.3turbo run around 200-300 horses....but thts alot of work and alot of money other idea i toyed with a while back.......bug engine in the rear, can this be done at all, i know someone with a 1.3 bug engine with gearbox wants £100 for it hmmmmm

Hmm. Sounds like one hella lot of hard work to me. Not that it can't be done.... (see thread elsewhere re. rear engine Fez), but the sheer volume of work and skills required may be a bit much? Hows about a nice ZVH transplant.... that must be do-able surely?

no lol.......i get fed up of the "put a zetec innit" i want something totally insanely unique and it doesnt need to be fast.......and its deffinetly not going to be a road going car

But if it's rear wheel drive in a small car you want... Shoehorning a B230ET into a Chevette will be (comparitively) much less hassle - and still pretty unique I'da thought

mid mount a 24v cossie v6 on a renult 21 turbo box? would need to be spaceframed tho relly.

How about the 2.7 Honda V6 from a rover 827 Supposedly 170 bhp from standard. Rover 800 was fwd so you could mount it transversely in the back, just need to figure out the gear selector linkage

V8, short block chevy... Rock-a-loola!! 250 - 300 BHP, in a ford fiasco!! brilliant, (may need to stiffen the suspension, leaf springs perhaps...

What about take a front clip off modern FWD car and graft it on the back. If you're thinking of going to the trouble of using a Beetle rear clip then why not look for a rear ended Civic type R or an FTO or something. RWD, plenty of power. With the FTO you'd get that semi tiptronic gearbox too.
