Right well ive been to the auto sport show today for the first time, amazing! Ive now been up for 19hrs but i had to post this car, too good! Had some super fun, lots of crazy cars, fine laydees, and shiny bits. The action arena was really good lots of cool cars including an imp, the fraser touring car. 115bhp and it was in a small race against a load of other touring cars, it ate them all! The acelleration was awsome, and it was spitting fire! I have a video that i will post tomorrow once ive had some sleep Back to the subject, while i was wandering around i found this little jem. Its a Mk1 golf with a hayabusa turbo in the engine bay, its not finished but it looked close. Its very neatley executed, with nice weight distribution too as the engine is on the opposite side to the driver. cheers guys J

oooh thats interesting. What sort of power/torque will a 'busa turbo kick out?

Once you've binned off the unneccessary interior bits and removed most of the weight of the engine etc. I doubt it weighs much more than a packet of 'Monster Munch'

The holeshot racing busa engine is usually around 300bhp, so it should shift. The 0 - 60 estimate was under 4 seconds, if they can get traction i guess thats possible. As for the gearbox i really am unsure, i think it may be a stock casting thats been polished?

did you see the Z cars busa turbo mini? 0-60 in 2.9 (or 2.6, i cant remember exactly) seconds and a top speed of 154mph

!!! i love that, will have to do that to a mk1 fessie, probably use a old oil cooled gsxr1100 instead. easy to fit under the bonnet coz of the square engine

300 BHP is one thing, but where's the torque? I've never driven a bike engined car but have heard feedback that its quite hard work as you have to keep the revs up the whole time. Not a car to commute in the rush hour with!

Not a car to commute in the rush hour with! but these are turbo'd bike engine cars, and turbo's make silly torque. for a n/a bike engined car i guess it depends on the spec of the engine and the weight of the car. ive heard before that a bike engined car lacks torgue, but my mates dads bike powered imp goes off like a scolded cat ....

People always complain of the torque in bike engines, but at the end of the day is about the same torque as the stock imp engine at a higher RPM, but this also corresponds with lower gearing. I'm sure they cant be that difficult to drive, and then once you have a turbo on the engine all torque problems go out the window! Holeshot had their 700bhp british LSR bike there, what a monster, what a big turbo! It needed two wastegates!
