Both of these have been father and son builds: As far as he tends to earn the money, pay for the majority of the parts and do the electrical side of things and I do everything else. We both enjoy competing together though Can't wait to get out and compete in the Locost with him next season!

I started off this Austin 7 by myself with just the bare chassis with the intention of turning it into a chummy special. However, my dad became more and more involved, particularly on the financial side, and it is now becoming a Brooklands replica. I think it is fair to say that it is now more his project than mine! Hallo Rupert. Welcome to the board. Please do a readers rides thead with this awesome piece of machinery. I am sure many on here will be interested. Looks great.

Some of you already know the story of the Bullitt - my dad built it when I was young while I passed him spanners and generally just sat there in awe that my dad was building a cool car in the garage. When he retired and moved to France, he couldn't take the car with him, so he gave it to me. I had nowhere to keep it, so I stored it in a barn temporarily... although it ended up staying there for years. Me and my uncle went and rescued it some time later, brought it back to life and (with much internal wrangling and heart-wrenching) sold it on. It now lives at the Brooklands museum, giving kids rides around the banking in the school holidays. Thread here.

Well when it came to first car time my dad vetoed me from having a classic and said he'd find me a cheap Golf or a Fiesta to cut my teeth on. Me = hell A few days later he ran in from work all excited saying he'd found a 107E, though so it all snowballed from there ;D Apart from learning loads of stuff from him and generally having car fun now I'm grown up I can't think of anything we built top to bottom other than a soap box cart when I was a kid and the engine in my 107E. The door to the garage was always open, so most of the tools found their way up to my bedroom which I turned into my own workshop. Until dad started shouting and ranting that all his tools were missing ;D

My Dad started me off at a young age with Go-Karts etc, all of my builds have had his input in one way or another. He also got me intrested in all manor of classic cars that were new when he was a lad. I think the last one he did alot of work on was my MGB GT.
