In hindsight, scrapping both my Mk1 festa Ghia and xr was wise, same with my shagged micras. cos they were rotted and glad i didn't bother, miss em like hell though. Leaving a Gold Volvo 360 GLE saloon to rot while at uni cos i couldnt afford petrol and was a bit of a bore to drive, but could of done summat cool with it now if it haddnt fallen to bits, like lower it to death on big euros and tune the hell outta that 2.0. Generally no regrets though, apart from the Volvo.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

My Skoda S110R. Had been looking for one for ages. Finally found one. Had it written off (rear ended) within a hour.
Shame, I had some big plans for that.

Mk1 transit long wheel base panel van, ex Met Police with twin sliding doors. The V4 decided to eat itself and I sold it for a huge profit before going travelling... So not so much regret, as I miss it. Like the big old lumbering, slow, noisy, piece of rusty around the edges friend it was... I've sold a few cars I know I'll never be able to replace, due to rarity, but even then at least i've owned them in the first place. To regret selling something is usually because you've replaced it with something wibblepoo, or had to place the funds elsewhere. There really are too many cars and too little time in my opinion...

ed in da house: anyone else miss their old cars.....wish you hadn't sold/scrapped them now?
There's only two cars that I should never have sold, one was a Fly Giallo 1970 Dino 246 GTB, bought it used in 78 when the Dino still was a Dino and NOT a Ferrari, used it for 2 years and sold it, 3 years later when the Ferrari boom hit it skyrockeded to 200% what I sold it for, but you never know. I see it every year at the Ferrari Club meet here in Sweden and it's in good hands, sadly he has replaced all the Dino logos with Ferrari....
The other was the 1957 Porsche Carerra Twin Cam I bought while living in Cali, that car was a dialy driver and no "collectors wet dream", sadly my x-wife sold it during our divorce when I was out of the country just to spite me since she knew that I loved that car more than annything...
The one I did not sell but was sadly stolen must have been my absolute fave, a Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II but that's another story.....

dp: You've had some amazing tin! As for me I have never (as yet) scraped anything. The two cars I thought I would I ended up selling complete to another 'like minded loony' ;D. The one a Mini (I used for 7 years) I was starting to strip 'retro accessories' off it for my other Mini (1969 Cooper S look-a-like) when a friend came by and said I'll buy that. I pointed out I'm taking all the retro gear off it and I was honest enough to show him were it need work/welding ...but he didn't care ...he wanted it ...so he bought it as a 'Long term resto project'. The other an MGB GT I sometimes think I should have broken up due to all the equipement/modification/imaculate retro gear that was on it. But I couldn't bring myself to do it so when someone offered me slightly more than I paid for it, it went. It's not so much a case of "I regret selling it" but more of a case of "I regret not breaking it up due to all the 'Kit' that was on it and inturn could have sold the gear individually and still got more than what I got for the car". Still I suppose it was for the best as the car still exists in my town.

My first Car, a what was then quite new 1986 Mini Mayfair, ooh i had some laughs in that Car with mates. My second Car, a 1987 e Reg Mk 2 Hatchback Cavalier Club, loved that car but had to sell if after getting booted out of home! Finances and that. Would dearly love to find it. Yellow Lotus Eclat 521, Vandalised My Calibra if i had know what the git i sold it to was going to do to it, i would never have sold it. ;(

My mint 1974 Toyota CROWN Super Saloon. Had to sell it as I left NZ, but wish I didn't sell it to my ex-girlfriend who promptly crashed it into a wall. I bet the wall came off worse. She was OK. Parcel-shelf fridges are one of the best accessories any car can have :-)

I would hate it if my Derby got written off or had to be scrapped for whatever reason I really regret selling my 'tweeked' 94' BMW 325TDS - it was an awsome car, despite being a diesel it was darn fast, did 40-50mpg and even sounded cool, I sold it as I narrowly escaped a driving ban for speeding and had to preserve the six points remaining on my License - which in a car which would cruise happily in treble figures, wouldn't have been easy Was pretty upset when buyer for my Integra drove away in it last year - I don't necessarily regret selling it but kinda regret buying the T3 Van which replaced it. Although I paid good money for the van, I was still left with some pocket money from the sale of the Type R. Within a week of van ownership (abeit with a trip down to Newquay) The headgasket had gone - it has since recieved a new head as the old one was cracked, along with a new water pump and starter motor, so with these new parts and the labour costs to do essentially two headgaskets, the van will cost me roughly what I sold the Integra for. A 100 odd thousand mile G reg diesel van doesn't seem like a fair swap for what was an immaculate, low mileage example of one of Hondas finest sports cars

Bl00dy hell! And I've never used bad lanuage on this forum before! Massive Paving Slab through the window, Stone through the rear quarter Window, plus Clutch was gone and i was to poor to afford to fix it! Lotus parts being the price they are i sold her to a good home for £400, After that i saw it and he was doing an excellent job of restoring it, all Genuine Lotus bits. Hope she is still around.

I miss ABW. I don't think I'll see another car with quite the same...patina? Loved the way it went, like only a Sprint can. Wish I'd got it at a more convenient time!

In Cronological Order (sorry not many pics cos some are a long time ago) Dolamite Sprint (Inca yellow black vinyl roof - damn car nearly broke me at 17 with the number of head gaskets she blew!! - still loved it but I got offered a Triumph TR4 IRS as a straight swap - what mistake that was!!!) Cortina MKV 2.3 Ghia (slush box was one downside - needing 2 bags of solid cement on the boot during winter was another but at 18 it was real luxury motoring) - wanted a more performance orientated motor so part ex'd it at a local garage for the one below RS2000 If I added what I spent on the Dolly sprint and the Cortina in terms of maintenance and modding and multiplied it to the power of 10 it would look like beer money after I had converted this RS200 to 2.3 and added a Holbay 16V head and early sierra five speed box......... Regreted selling it for two reasons one it was superb and the last black car I have owned (I want another) and two cos the new owner 2 mths later tried to take me to court when he found filler in the roof - not a little either - a lot!!! Pug 205 Lacoste (205 1.4 GT 3 dr with weber 35 IBSH carbs as opposed to a skanky solex) almost my newest and lowest mileage ever car 6 mths old when I bought her and just 10K miles - went with the wife when we divorced - so it wasn't a sale as such - I was gutted Still after she was paid off and everything was signed I went out and bought a brand new Pug 205 1.6 GTI - she was fuming and new then that shed been tucked up on the settlement ;D Ahh that felt soooo goood Was doing sily miles at time so it went 6 mths later before it had more miles than a NASA shuttle!!! And funnily enough I don't have many regrets on that at all Went back to Bikes for several years but thats a different thread Finally recently a Vauxhall Senator A 3.0i 12V Had to scrap it cos the rot was way too far gone for my fledgling welding skills the inner wings were so rotten it was the fact the bonnet was shut that kept the struts down!!! I would have loved to restore it due to the fact I had it as a works "plain" car for a year and it went like the wind Even More recently and I don't know why I like it so much it's FWD!!! Had it two years and it performed faultlessly - bought it for the other half to learn to drive in ;D By the way when I sold it it had done 185,000 miles  The other half bought a R reg private plate and didn't realise you had to have a car of the plate age or newer to put it on (so I bought her another polo R plate as it happens ) And lastly very recently I scrapped this one – 3.0i 24V CD Auto 1992 J905 HAB (known affectionatly as "5habby") with 98,000 miles and it turned out a bit of a chequered history – despite it being a full History with the car if you see what I mean - I owned it from 1995 till 2005 It got featured with a load of club cars in car Mechanics magazine Autobox got converted to a manual) but with 166,000 miles shown on the dash but it’s donating all the good bits to another one...... When I say all this is what went to the scrap man Shabby you will be missed
