I'm new to this site, so sorry if this is the wrong sub-forum to post this in. I happened to be passing the local car auctioneer's yard today-didn't even know it was there before today, but something caught my eye. Had a closer look and the red shiny thing turned out to be a Renault Fuego turbo. Not a bit of rust on it, not even the rear arches or the door bottoms. Looking at the auctioneer's website, it's a one-owner, 29,000 mile car with fsh. I've been looking at the website occasionally for a month or so, and this car was definitely in their last auction before Christmas, possibly in one before that too. Of course it might have a silly reserve on it, but an old Renault does have quite a limited appeal. It could be a bargain for someone. Unfortunately the auction is tomorrow. www.hobbsparker.co.uk/CF/?PageType=SalesCatalogue&DeptId=8&saletypeId=5&SaleId=446655&Link=SalesCalendar.

Nice .. Clean Fuego + Wheels + Drop .. could be a show stealing winner with a little effort but not too much money.

Hey I noticed that car 2 months ago so rushed out of work early across Kent to make it on time - it was not there. But it was on the list again for the next auction and went again. It still was not there. I've since noticed that Hobbs Parker are curse word at removing items from their list that are sold or no longer appearing. Looking at there current auction list I think at least half the cars have been on there for 2 months with out showing (and god know how much longer before that), I wrote them an email complaining yesterday about the half arsed list where everything is carried over even though it wont appear again. No reply as of yet. Still, might pop over tonight edit - cr*p I just read what you wrote. I'm off down there now!

Got there through the blizzard (though Ashford was ok) no car is sight. Had the right hump, so enquired at the desk. The man told me it was in the compaund locked up, but they never bother putting it through because it never sells. There was a strong four figure reserve and its never been got anywhere near. Anyway he was more than reluctant to show me the car but agreed. To cut a long story short I made a sensible offer, he phoned the trader who agreed and its mine! Thanks for the heads up DaveS Collect next week. Good things are the body which is stunning. No MOT is not a good sign and I have no room for it so not really sure what to do but find another

Took me 3 and a half hours to get home though (should take 30mins). Traffic at a stand still, pushing people up hills made of ice. And I've just spunked all my cash on a 1984 renault that I saw in the dark and could'nt hear running. Joy! Picks when I collect in a week....

How much did you pay? Out of interest... Cleaned, lowered on a decent set of alloys should see it looking pretty.

If I keep it I will probably keep standard (lowing may be required though ). I'll keep quiet about what I paid until I make up my mind about it. But it wasn't cheap.
