due to not being allowed by eBay to cancel a bid within the last 12 hours of an auction ending I have ended up buying a car I thought I wanted, thought I didn't, but will be paying for anyway now. I'm coming back to the idea I do actually want it. So now I am back in a '95 Lexus LS400 Mk3, for those who care this is the one to have IMO - its lighter and more powerful than the Mk1 & MK2, about 1 sec faster 0-60 but its still a non-VVTI motor so a snapped belt isn't necessarily "game over". Its way cheaper to buy than the Mk4 (the 290 BHP VVTI version) and as its not got the touch screen dash the Mk4 has you can change the stereo on it without losing the climate control LOL. As far as I can tell these do a 15.2 sec 1/4 mile. I might just have a set of Work split rims in the collection which will fit this one...

nearly there: ford f250 tathauler, suzuki alto, u11 bluey
not for a while: ford pop, 32 rails,
not in this lifetime: ruby, '29 hillman

Ah, first lexus I had I did the thing you are advised to do - buy the best you can find/afford. Only I made a mistake on what I could afford. Stuck with it as long as I could but had to sell to clear the loan I had taken to buy it. Got Saab in the deal.
Sold Saab for £650, bought this LS400 for £700.
So I've had three modernish cars and am only £50 down...
This time I have gone for the "buy the cheapest one you can find thats not a total wreck"
Mrs Ku has given up trying to follow the logic.
I hate to sound like a fanboi but there's not much compares to a Lexus for a daily luxo-smoker.

looking sharp Mr Ku...
given the legendary build quality of these i can't see that buying a cheapo one will cause any grief at all..

you'd think that, yet I looked at some real unappetising looking heaps for the same money. One of which you openned the bonnet, the grill rattled and you could see the bonnet and front wings were both off another car as they'd only painted the outer parts of the panels to match the rest of the car.
This one has a lot of miles, and plenty of car park battle scars and the like but seems a "genuine" car and its the cheapest Mk3 I could fid that wasn't Cat D or Cat C.

Hope that it is good and reliable for you Akku! Your next car was the subject of some discussion at the Limes! Look forward to seeing it on the rims.

Looks tidy for a daily. Not a minter so you can leave anywhere, but solid enough to not need to worry about it. My £600 Mk1 Celsior did me for a year. Was slightly rougher but totally original right down to the pollen filter.

nice one alistair, have to say i love these, bargain! and at that price you could mess about with it [or just do nothing and woft round effortlessly] if i wasn't doing loads of miles for no dough i'd be in one of these as a daily
|
|
yes ,it started badly ,petered off in the middle and the least said about the end the better!!!

It has a few bits need attending too, but for the price I can't complain. Its not too nice to mess about with a bit either. I always thought louder exhausts would be the thing on an LS400, but my old one (now Plastic Orange's) was too nice to mess with. I'm trying to sell it as an advantage to now own a scruffy one LOL

Go on, you know you want to give it the stripe and Rozzers branding with a magnetic blue light and a cassette of sound effects/sirens.
