Is it possible to fit 4x100 wheels onto something that's supposed to be 4x101? If they 'go on', can I be certain they won't 'come off' again at high speed. I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times, but I was twatting about at the back of the classroom at the time and wasn't paying attention

Depends on the wheels and the method of attachment, I think...

Just thinking about the wheel options for the Minor.... have plenty of 4x100 spare

I reckon 1mm isn't going to make much difference. It'll stretch each stud or nut by 0.25mm which isn't much. I probably wouldn't do it if the wheel uses tapered nuts, but shoulder nuts would probably be ok (T shaped if you look at it from the side)

Alleycats can be fitted with offcentre taper nuts to make 4x98 rims fit 4x100.

"OFFSET (also referred to as 'ET'):
Your car requires a unique offset. Simply this is where the outside of the wheel needs to be in relation to the bodyline of the vehicle, [glow=red,2,300]realistically you can go 5-7mm outside these recommendations[/glow], but always consult a technician if you are unsure, as there are often other factors that need to be considered.oops

TommyG, the matter in question in the PCD, not the offset

Not concerned about offset at the mo.... it's the stud pattern etc. that's the headache!

seeing as its four stud to four stud can you not have the drums/discs redrilled to 4x100? There should be plenty of surface face to fit both the 4x101 and the 4x100. With the PCD being so close its a bit of a bunch of ar5e, but if it were me i wouldnt take the chance.

If they use sleeve nuts ( the T shaped ones) then if you can get it to fit it should be safe. you could enlarge the holes in the wheels by 0.5mm if you cant get it to fit but they may have enough clearance allredy.
If they use taper nuts then do not attempt it unless you can get hold of some of the so called 'wobbly' nuts with floating seats.

I've run BMW wheels on a Viva without a problem but V8Mike's post above seems to outrank me.
Metric-ising old imperial measurements (4.5"=114.3, 3.75"=95.25mm, 5.5"=139.7 - all common 'modern' pcds) is where most of these wierd mm pcd measurements come from. The problem with 100mm/4" is that whilst they're are close, they're not just the same figure in different units. It will vary from wheel to wheel...I'd say try it, but err on the side of caution.

NEVER EVER BLOODY EVER try to stretch metric stud patterns onto Imperial ones. 100mm pcd is NOT close enough.
I've been to the inquest that followed the death of a college mate that died as a result of fitting 100mm pcd rims onto his Imp (4inch pcd). Its not big, its not clever and it doesn't work.
If you want rims for your Minor look at Midgets, Vivas (*not Chuvvitts*), Imps and Minors.
Your life is worth more than a set of rims, dude.

Just cos something is good for you doesn't mean its good for everyone - for example Marmite does not make good Dog Food.
