Finally got round to finishing off the gearbox conversion on my Vitesse. Decided to go down the route of shortening the remote linkage and all was going well until i removed the tailshaft housing from the main casing.
3 small metal parts, approx 5/8" x 3/16" x 3/16" fell out from somewhere and i'm buggered if i can suss out where from !!
Can anyone help with an exploded view of this gearbox please ??
My Google-fu is weak and cannot find anything of use !

Sounds like the part that retains the 5th gear assembly (maybe).. how about a photo of the offending odd bit? I have an exploded diagram "somewhere"...but not here

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Can't do pics atm, cos got new laptop and can't find disc for me phone driver ! They're pressed into shape to form a small open top box about 5/8 x 3/16 x 3/16. Not out of main casing just out the tailshaft housing part. Looks like reverse gear ??

can't get my head around that 3 pieces, forming a box? erm... There arn't many small parts in the back of a type 9.. there is the selecter collar, a mushroom shaped plunger and a spring, the speedo drive and a few oil seals and a pressed channel for oil to travel to the end of the tailshaft. (PS that's fifth outside the main case, not reverse) I can't think of anything that sounds like what you have there. fwiw, plug the phone into the laptop anyway. I'd be quite surprised if it didn't recognise and mount as USB mass storage so you can get your photos, even if you can't use advanced features without the driver (ps.. phone manufacturer's website>downloads>phone model... usually quicker than finding the disk)

they look to me like they belong on the inside casting of the tailshaft housing rather than part of the gear mech itself. Get a torch, look for same-shaped holes ps. I see what you mean now, each piece is formed into a "box" shape. Rob - 1 and 32 are rollpins....

heh, yeah, I think you are right. Trouble is they really shouldn't be in the tailshaft housing at all! I mean, how have they escaped from inside the gear cluster in the other half of the box, or (possibly) are they "spares" that found themselves stuck to the grease during a rebuild?
