If you're contemplating that one in the photo you must be mad. The 'good' one had best be a bazillion times better! Considering it has no registration etc. £400 sounds a bit steep to me. I just bought this one for £175. Might turn out to be sh1t, but at least I can claw some of that back if that's the case....

Going on te amount of work I've had to do on my Anglia you'd be much better off paying a bit more and doing a lot less work!!! That looks like years of work to me. You can pick up good moggies for next to nothing anyway.

Looks hellish!!! is it my eyes, or does it appear to be folding up in the middle? If so, I can only offer you this peice of advce given to me by my mother many many years ago:
"Son, whatever you do with your life, remember that i'll always do my best to be there for you, to support you when things are tough and to do my best when you need help. Please promise me you'll never be too proud to ask for help should you need it. EXCEPT of course if you are trying to weld up some manky old bathtub thats folded up in the middle, I aint touchin one o them, so you can forget that right now ya tw@t"
Never forgotten it.
If its got no reg no. you'll probably need to rob some ID off another dead one too, cant see that being easy or cheap if you want it to be 'officially' a soft-top. and don't underestimate the cost of getting that cooker squared up by a CORGI-registered gas fitter either, those guys cost a packet!

If you've got the time to do the work on the "good" one, go for it. If you don't have the skills, you'll learn along the way. You've got plenty of help on here for a start!
As shown by NickB's motor though, and the price he paid, it ought to be reasonably good for £400. Wouldn't even think about repairing that tourer!
Bodieanddoyle is also a top bloke for Minor advice, he's had a mod'd one as a daily driver for yonks.

remember this: plums has no television - he has time to utter pearls of wisdom ;D Is that true? Is so, can we send you selected episodes of cult television programs and news clippings to help you culture an even more bizarre outlook on the world? Back on topic, if only my mother had been as helpful as Mrs plums Snr. When I came home with my third saloon she said, 'Did you pay for that?'... Not how much, but did I. For a lady of limited mechanical knowledge, it transpired she knew far more than me about that Minor...
