The Allegro has decided to play silly buggers for some reason (1098 A series engine). Driving home in it yesterday, started to loose power and misfire slightly. Managed to get it home.
Removed and swapped the points as they were quite pitted with what looked like burn marks as well. Changed them and it seemed better.
Went to start this morning. It churned for a while, then coughed and almost started for a second or 2, then it just turns over now.
Replaced points again to make sure I hadn't messed up, no different.
Pulled a plug and there is no spark visisble with the plug sat on the engine.
The coil has 12v to it with the ignition on.
There is 12v showing at the coil to dizzy lead with the ignition on.
With the dizzy to coil lead removed from the dizzy and held next to the block, there is no spark evident when cranking.
With the ignition on and the points open, there is nothing across the points. I thought there should be 12v across them?
The coil gets quite warm even if cranking just for a few seconds (can't remember if it did or not).
Nearset I can guess is either condensor or coil, but I have thicko problems with electrical issues, it's not my thing!!!
Any suggestions would be good.
