Neighbours mum has one, 1978-ish, stopped driving it 2 years ago. So no Tax, MOT. Garaged all its life. He has asked me whether it was worth putting up for sale. I have no idea. What are they worth, can it be sold, or is it Ebay/weigh in time ?? Nicola says its the motoring equivalent of a Dung Beetle. Is she dissing the Dung beetle ?? It is supposed to be blue. Have a couple of pics.

looks a rather tidy example! with a nice pricetag too, never thought an allegro would be worth so much, it has better aerodynamics going backwards than it does forwards

Think they came with 1500cc (and later 1750cc) E-Series powah and in most cases (but not all) were Heather Mills-matic. They made up for being pig-ugly on the outside by being absolutely sumptuous inside with proper walnut, leather seats with picnic tables, and quality carpeting.
If it's blue then it's in all probability Denim Blue like the one in the first pic. Worth a look, but (especially with no MOT) not worth a fat lot unless it's truly immaculate....and even then they're not exactly sought after. The one in the EGay ad above is lovely, but he's having a laugh at £1700.
I'd happily roll a stocker, would have to be a manual though. ;D

If it's got the square steering wheel it's probably worth more than the car ;D They seem to be quite rare now. I love the Allagro but prefer the smooth front to the RR style grille.

It has better aerodynamics going backwards than it does forwards not true, most cars with a sloping back and square front have a lower drag factor when going backwards, but they also produce lift, definately NOT better aerodynamics for a car, ok if your an aeroplane though.

I can pimp it round the Allegro club if you like? It should guarantee a nice home for it anyway, for the right price... Bung up some pics and some contact details, or PM em to me.

The value of these seems to be rising I've noticed, I guess if it's a tidy one with low mileage it must be worth £500ish at least. I did scan a 1989 CAR magazine road test of one of these comparing it against the Orion 1600E and Belmont CDi a little while back, If you click the picture you can read it.

^ Agreed, there are many people who will cherish these things, no offence to people who want to 'mod' it.

Special-fridge cool IMHO. With luck this thread will see it go somewhere appreciated.
Back in the day as a serial Allegro owner I'd have advised against ANY Allegro without an MOT. Stand one idle for 5 minutes and it's deteriorating in the way only a car made from 1970s Russian steel can.
However there are two points in this one's favour. (1)They aren't common any more and (2) this one's survived 30+ years. Which means that although it's stood for a couple of them it must have been a better than average one to start with. So if it was made by Red Robbo on a Friday, it must have been made for one of his relatives.
Someone buy it, cherish it.

The value of these seems to be rising I've noticed, I guess if it's a tidy one with low mileage it must be worth £500ish at least. A friend of mine had one of these (VP model) in fair condition but did have an MOT. Put it up at £650 in the summer and took £575 in the end. So.... is not a complete lemon if in ok condition.
