The Astra's been a bit difficult to start of late, so I called into halfrauds yesterday for a set of glow plugs... 29.99. ...just looked on Ebay... about 16 quid including postage Looks like I might be taking the halfrauds ones back...

|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Why do people use Helfrauds?
I priced a battery for my brother-in-laws Punto, £49.99 - went to Partco, better battery (Bosch) with a three year guarantee instead of 2 from Halfords - £25.00.

Why do people use Helfrauds? For the comedy value? I was so pleased to learn a lad we sacked (who reckoned he could get a job anywhere easy) was workin there on £5.10 an hour. Laughed my ass off!

Often it's not the glow plugs on them they suffer quite badly from valve seat recession so the clearances tighten up - you then don't get much compression till they are warm!!!! So cold winter starts take forever!!!

As i've said before bike dept is usually great for bits and specialist tool jobs and car dept can be fine for nic nacs on a sunday (or even saturday) aft, and eve. i try the partco types first though to save a few $'s.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

some of their tools are OK... f'rexample i stripped all the edges off a wheelnut, even a brand new wheelwrench was spinning on it. their professional impact sockets shifted it no probs - and if you break one, you get a new one!

As I have said before I really rate there professional tool range. I have used them pretty much all my driving life and the only the things that I have ever damaged are the T55 torx bits. Admittedly I have had to replace my set three times due to theiving tw*ts stealing them And as said above the bike department is pretty good and getting better all the time. Apart from that emergencies only

Halfords 'profesional' Tool range I too have found to be brilliant, not only that but the guarantee the tools come with is superb, they even guarantee the ratchet heads. Yet even Snap-on get funny about whether or not to replace ratchet heads under warranty. But ... at least the lad was still willing to WORK, unlike alot these days £5.10 an hour ...seems about normal for a job around Telford in Shropshire

I must admit that it's not my first choice, but we we happened to be passing...
It's the GM engine rather than the Isuzu, BTW... I think '93 was when they changed.
