Mercedes-Benz was the most mentioned brand in 2005's biggest rap hits, found a survey released this week. Mercedes received 100 mentions, while Nike came in second with 63 mentions and former No. 1 Cadillac took third with 62, according to American Brandstand 2005, a report by Agenda Inc., a San Francisco-based marketing firm. The report tallies which products were most name-dropped in the 106 songs that reached the Billboard Top 20 this year.
Auto brands dominated the Top 10, with Bentley, Rolls Royce and Chevrolet also among the most-mentioned.
A total of 35 percent of the songs that made the charts in 2005 contained product references, compared to 40 percent of songs in 2004. The top product categories in this year's list were automobiles, fashion labels, beverages and weapons.
The brand which made the biggest gain in ranking this year was the pistol-maker Beretta, which debuted at No. 13 with 24 mentions.
Rapper 50 Cent was the most brand-dropping rapper of the year, with 17 product mentions in 7 songs, mentioning brands like Bentley, Cristal, Lamborghini, Mercedes and Nike.
It was unclear how many of the product mentions were paid placements -- advertising industry analysts quoted in AdAge said that revealing such a deal would likely undermine both the rapper and the brand's credibility.
Top ten brands:
1. Mercedes-Benz
2. Nike
3. Cadillac
4. Bentley
5. Rolls-Royce
6. Hennessy
7. Chevrolet
8. Louis Vuitton/Cristal (tie)
10. AK-47

Surely the adulation of the obnoxious, incoherent, mumbling talentless fool 'fiddy' must do the brand more harm than good?
Mercedes should 'have a word'. ;D

lol, ak-47. thats a rebel idiot gun, he's right.the kalashnakov is one of the cheapest, most un accurate weapons made. the rifling in the barrel is so bad no 2 bullets go in the same direction. hence the quote by sam jackson in jackie brown. "when you absotively posolutely got to kill every motherf*cker in the room". all you gotta do is pull the trigger and wave it around a bit. if i was a terrorist my weapon of choice would be anything from the steyr or hepler and koch range of sub machine guns. but back on topic.id have thought that these top brands would do their utmost to be dis-assosiated from so called "gangsta rappers" especially 50 p, cos everywhere he goes someone gets shot. not a good image for a luxury car maker.

Mercedes no longer have a good image (I mean new ones here )... ...In America the Mercedes E300 was voted THE MOST unreliable car you could buy in their 2004 JD Power results (and the poll included such firms as Saturn etc.)

Mercedes no longer have a good image (I mean new ones here )... back ;D i know what you mean. if you look in the mboc club magazine 99% of the letters page is people complaining about quality, service and general staff attitude. my opinion, they should have kept their old ones instead of obeying societies so called new is better philosophy. i had to laugh at one complaint though.some guy had taken his new merc back for its first service.he got a courtesy car so he and his wife could have a ride to the local shopping precinct. when he returned they had done the service, plus they had washed the car and valeted it for him too. his complaint, they didnt leave him a little bag of sweets on his dashboard.when he was "a lad" the garage where his father took his benz (probably a 540k ) always gave them some mints. please.

oh yes,in the Customer Survey they did mention about the complaints customers had with Merc dealers in recent times as well. Stating how they felt the dealers had no aftersales consideration/not bothered etc.

Mercedes no longer have a good image (I mean new ones here )... I'd have to disagree with that, and my argument takes the shape of the Mercedes Maclaren SLR Clip 01Clip 02Clip 03

Fiddy is great.
If you take away all the machismo and posturing, he actually has some great tunes.

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

If you take away all the machismo and posturing, he actually has some great tunes. *n Sadly you are 100% wrong. And do you think many mercedes potential clients actually care how good the cars really are? Nope. Mercedes doesn't mean 'I'm buying the best' anymore. It means 'I have lots of money and want you to know about it'... Whether they break down or the customer service sucks is largely irrelevant, & I suspect mercedes know this. Sit back & let the $$$'s roll in.
