With 2009 coming to a close, thoughts are already moving to next year. Well mine are anyway, largely cos i will only spend another 5 days of 2009 in the UK! When 2010 rolls round, theres a few targets i certainly want to achieve. 1) Finish rebuilding Tashas racecar ... and race it! 2) Get the bus on the road, and drive it out and into Europe for Classic Le Mans 3) Give the bike a good service, get it running right, and really get some miles on it 4) Purchase a suitable track day/thrashabout slag ... Thats mine, so whats yours?? ...

All posts will be cross checked at the end of the year to see if we were just waffling. Job No. 1 Get the engine and box out of this.... and fit it to the van and get it finished. No. 2 Knock all the dents out of the Capri and get it resprayed (hope Mark Nightmares isn´t too busy in spring) ;D No. 3 My sons´ T4 needs a respray (DIY garage job) and putting through an MOT... No. 4 I had planned on starting the Rover next summer... No. 5 but I can see the RRG 10 - MK4 Escort 24V trackcar project taking priority

plans for 2010 are depressingly simialr to plans for 2009.
1. get the Oldsmobile back on the road. OK, at least its got T&T now, but the gearbox is still FUBAR, so that has to come out again, proper rebuild, refit, blah blah. Carb is junk, disty needs to be swapped out for a HEI, sort a few other little bits and hopefully it will run and drive nice enough for me to actually want to drive it rather than just curse it daily as I walk past its rusking remains on the drive.
2. get back on to the Plymouth. I've got some stuff done on that, not anywhere near enough to call "progress". its just "all to do" on that one.
I think I'm being a tat optomistic with those ambitions so I'll stop now.

Hopefully the Carlton will be painted/turbo'd by February so I can leave that alone. Also got another few days of welding to do on my brothers Clio, then I can pop the engine in and he can have that. Can crack on with the model A then, but that won't be done for a couple of years at least.

Well, the main think I'd like to do is finally build a car that I can put my name too, and also to show you guys that I can do it! So, finish this.... and I also want to build something to bolt these to, as having them locked in a container, not on a car, is a bit frustrating. Other than tha, I just want to enjoy more of the RR spirit! Chris

Good idea for a thread. I achieved about 50% of what I set out to achieve this year, so I'm going to make it a little bit less ambitious. First up, my Xmas/New year project: I bought this in June and it has sat outside ever since. Very silly of me, but it will get attention in the coming weeks. It needs a small bit of welding, steering and electrics are shot. I hope to have alot of this done by the time I head back to work after the xmas break. I also need to source some suitably awesome wheels. I want to keep on this and have it on the road for Feb/March Race car really needs some paint work, so I'll hopefully do that. I also want to get the car setup properly on the rolling road as it hasn't been done for a few years and bogs down heavily at low revs. Not mine, but it needs a good bit of bodywork and a new driveshaft. Hope to get this onto air this year, but it's really just a bonus if I get it done.

Project 1
Well, my little sister has just got engaged to a good friend of mine- they have both asked me to get the Beemer on the road for next November as they want it as one of the wedding cars.
I best pull my fat Greek finger out and sort it! I need to have the subframe re-aligned (£200 by a friend of a friend), fit the lowering springs (which nearly brained me last time I tried. To cap things off, they had to come straight off as they caused the car to rub on one side due to the sub-frame issues) and finally give it a good tune up.
An optional extra would be having the sunroof plated over and a re-spray of the top half of the car but at £800 it's maybe a step to far for the year. We shall see.
Project 2
I am doing a charity banger rally and am toying with the idea of using the 924. I have sourced a set of wheels and am on the cusp of buying some seats. Other than that, I need to replace a few rubbers and plumb the stereo in. Should be an easy fix now that I've sorted all the mechanicals and the brakes.
I also plan to be wherever RR'10 happens to be this year!

Porsche 924 - gone Citroen Saxo VTR - not very retro but I loved it - now gone... MK4 Golf GTi 1.8T - gone but hardly remembered... Mini Cooper S R53 - gone BMW 125d Coupe - gone (mostly sideways)
Ford Focus RS Mk1 - hello low MPGs and "wanna race me" at every set of lights... 1973 BMW 2002 - Twin 40's, 284 Cam, Revolutions, E21 Recaros + more Porsche Cayman 987 3.4S - here and due to cost me more money than I have

I plan to get the Alfa '33 out the garage and get it road legal again. I can really see how people forget about cars, it's been in there for 3 years and slowly buried by stuff.
Probably won't happen though, as the wife wants a mortgage and I'm trying to get my own company off the ground.

Sadly the same as last year Get my Starlet on the road. Have done very little this year, consisting of swapping an engine in my one of my cars & not even getting that set up properly, it's been a poor & mojo bashing year for me.

Mine are very realistic as there's gonna be no spare money next year so its just:
Paint the Cedric black and slam it.

Very simple plan for me in 2010
Get a bleedin retro
And not just any retro, a good example of something I've always desired. Not an affordable compromise that seems to come along at the right time. And then once I have said retro to invest some time and money modifying it and supporting the shows.

I just want to finish the dodge and re-MOT my citroen van. If there is time then finish the 2CV build I'm doing and maybe the scally rally GSA. But i tend to change my idea of priority from one moment to the nexy, so big one is to get the dodge on the road.

I want to get my lowered Rangey up and running and attempt my first solo roof chop i also need to fit in getting us a useable dayvan as the family want more weekends out under canvas, but with my back i want a proper bed, the kids can sleep in the tent! I'd also like to upgrade to a 4.0S jag but i don't know if i can afford the dayvan and another car, we'll have to see what comes along

My plans are to zetec the fiesta and tidy it up, new , less rusty panels and will probably be a bad mix of primer all over ;D got new wheels that need a refurb, need new tyres for those. changing the styling a little and hopefully lower it for the 3rd time. If i have enough money spare and i keep working then i'll have a go at developing an IRS for it too.
this is all entirely dependant on me working and finding a place to store/work on the fiesta, though.
also, if it does go into storage, i need a daily which can be insured on a classic policy for cheap commuting. and my 2010 plans for that would be to, somehow, leave it alone ;D

The main one for me is supercharge the golf ;D (I'm determined it will happen 2010!) and to try to resist getting carried away and bolting a turbo on aswell. Then after that hopefully get round to sorting the bodywork and respray. Oh and to finally finish refurbing the alloys that are on the car.

well, considering how much more ive achived than expected in 2009, and the circumstances ive done it under, I think 2010 should be a rather good year.
ive got 4 personal projects on the go, only one of which really needs/wants to be done- the budget hotrod build, as it will become a daily driver. so, get that done and I can be thrashing about in a 'rod whilst I finish building the A. got the bobber to work on too, and the rwd caddy.
but, considering ive now got a pretty good workshop, thats dry, clean, well organised and well equipped, plus i live here, I should see some real progress with my automotive ambitions this coming year.
