celica.... even tho i love a big sloppy saloon... and yours is full of amezin.... but .... the celica does look cool.... id go on norms idea tho of test fit yourself in it... its gonna be a big step...

Must say i had a y30 built as a lowrider and i still miss the thing.
Efotless to drive on long journeys, good on fuel, had air con and cruise ;D. Celica could be nice but what is a little tlc? Known that mean knew floor pans.
I vote keep the cedric, fit an LSD and some propper slammed suspension or air bags, rims and enjoy having a car you family friends and all the lugage for a weekend away can fit into. ;D

Love the Cedric, but it's the Celica by a mile. I'm 6'3", 190lbs and there is plenty of room (in the front), and the long coupe doors help with getting in there. They are surprising good cruisers, (better than the 2 litre cars) - very comfy and refined for a 4-pot. I've taken a couple on European tours with no problems in terms of comfort or reliability. Mechanically tough and virtually identical to all 1600 Celicas back to '71, good build quality - panels are likely to be your only problem, but even they can found if you know where to look. As for lack of character (shame on whoever said that! ) - drive it and make your own mind up! ;D Also,they sound sweet with a couple of pancake filters and a back box. ....And parts are cheap enough too. Although,the seat covers on that one are particularly nasty  You know that 'sold' for £725 on ebay 27/11 don't you? |

I'd say follow your heart! which one's on your mind all the time? if your like me and forever trading cars just because you want a new car experiance then do the deal or if you,ve had a great time with the 300c and know you'll miss it like mad then stick with it and give it some more love!

I've been looking at a Laurel recently, and the Celica is really ugly and parts are expensive from what I remember. So I vote stick with the Laurel... but get some DISH! What Laurel?  This one Re-read... Laurel is similar size and shape to Cedric, so therefore I vote with that, because I like it, for same reasons I like the Laurel... |

:)ok bit the bullet did a deal and the cedrics gone!! [to a guy 1mile away] and the celica is in my garage , it has 12mths mot and needs tlc as stated [mainly paint and body]
my plans?? well it is going to go down a 70,s 80,s rally route ,arches ,bonet pins ,cibies, flaps ,guards , cage , etc , this will be done slowly until the mot runs out, then will come off the road and be done properly , so till then i will bolt on all the usual stuff plate the sunroof and make a rally replica for now
raeson for this is i don't have the funds to do it properly yet but do have the bits laying around , also seems a shame to take it off the road when it has a fresh mot .
i will start a thread as soon as my photobucket plays ball!!!!

Glad for you. Got to bop in one around Watkins Glen in the Toyota warm-up to the F1 race in 1978!!!! When they were new cars! How's that for telling you what an old geezah I is? Buzzing by the pits and seeing the likes of Colin Chapman, Gilles, Andretti, Emmo, Hunt, etc, from the inside of a Celica Mk2 on the racetrack was a bitchin' moment imprinted in my cranial cavity that time has not dimmed. So, for me, you chose wisely! Take it up to Crayford and get the vert top installed! ;D

Sounds interesting! Whats the point of luzzing a load of stuff on it in a half-arsed way if youre just going to take it all off again in a few months though? I think you should just enjoy blezzing around in it for the time being.

take your point mr bollo, the parts i may fit will all be bits which will be removed and refitted come the time i am in a position to do it properly, so it will only be like doing some prep work early.
i have built and owned rally cars in the past so i know that done properly they cost about 6 times what you budget and twice as long [and thats without the cost of actually rallying them!!!] [oh and your insurances, bars tests ,msa licence and all that goes with it ]
none of the 'half arsed' bits will be any different on what i dream to be the final car [if i ever get there] i,m just a sucker for the rally look!
