That's pretty hot for such a little lorry and such a little engine, until relatively recently 280 horses was a respectable figure for a Class 1 artic, certainly most Leyland Marathons etc didn't have that much power, so that much out of a Mog-sized motor's pretty good! Not sure about the idea of a Brabus one though, sort of abolishes the point of the totally reliable and dependable go anywhere motor if you start f*cking it about, that might be a lot of power, but I can't imagine it being a useable motor for the normal clientele Merc has for the Unimog, there's that collosal price tag for a start, for a motor of that size £150K is a bit much I'd think.

There's a Unimog of this type that works around Greenock, I think it's owned by a tree surgeon or similar. I suppose it's practical for the work he does in the more rural areas round Greenock, there are a lot of farms in the hills to the south, but it doesn't half look out of place when it's been used for preening the trees round the nice houses in the West end! ;D

I went on a corporate hospitality day to Mercedes Trucks at there distribution centre at M1 Junc. 36 and they were reconditioning 25 year old Unimogs there and selling them as new They were all old style ones and were double cool! The chief mechanic drives a DeLorean and I got to drive an Actros artic - it was awesome, the driver aids and cab electronics have to be seen to be believed. Loads of parts /systems are from the S-classe or they are even better.

I'm sure I'd seen/heard that the newer unimogs are ambidextrous too... you can switch them from Right to Left hand drive really easily....
