I was out cleaning the 244 today, which I try to do every 7 - 10 days or so. I wondered if the way I do it is excessive:
I start off with the inside: Vacuum all the carpets, including under the seats; take everything out of the glovebox and vacuum that; run the attachment over the dashboard air vents; vaccum out all the boot.
I then lightly shampoo the carpet, parcel shelf, headlining and the seats, use cleaner on the kick panels and door panels and the headling (and steering wheel); then dashboard shine on dash and back of interior mirror.
Then do all the glass.
On to the outside:
Apply Gunk or other engine cleaner to the door shuts and hinges; same under the bonnet; spray the same under the wheel arches; apply wheel cleaner. I then run the pressure washer over all that, as well as the floorpan.
I then wash all the bodywork, including the door shuts and undersides of doors; sponge out the boot and engine bay channels, and rinse it all off with the hose.
In the Summer I'll give it a polish, but as it's damp at the mo' I then go over all the bodywork with Wax It Wet (including the wheels and trim. I also leather off the inside of the boot...
Leather off! Magic.... All set to be caked in Welsh mud again!
