okai i picked this up today and found: The passenger footwell full of water while the drivers side one damp...
AND
i seem to have a problem starting it......it doesna start!!!!!
i have tried jumping starting, replaceing the battery, hitting the starter with a big hammer. tried bump starting it at 50 (this worked for 4 secs, as soon as i hit the clutch to change gear it stalled and wouldn't bump start again)
the lights on the dash do not go dull when trying to crank it over as it will not crank over. It just had the timing belt done at 61000 mile (only 67000 on the clock)
there is a pic if we can get to the bottom of this problem.
thanks in advance.
please inbox me the answer as this thread will be locked/deleted thanks

edit - cos I read the OP properly this time.
I'd suspect the wiring to the starter and the ignition switch if the lights don't dim when you try to start it.

What reg is this? It sounds like the immobiliser has thrown its teddy out as that will give you everything except starting. If you have a key fob then disconnect the car battery, give it a few hours, reconnect then press the left hand button on the fob four times near the dashboard - this should wake the system up. I've had to do it to my boy's 'Tro and my R200 before.

jump lead direct from the battery to the starter motor will get it to spin over, if it starts its the imobiliser playing up.

Most probably imobilisor as said. Flooding probably caused by drainage channel running from under the front screen, maybe blocked with leaves etc. Seen this a few times

as i said, clip a jump lead on the positive termianl of the starter, switch the ignition on and then touch the other end of the lead to the positive battery terminal, it'll start and run then even if the imobiliser is still on.

Right, make sure the ign is OFF and it's OUT of GEAR, run a small wire from the posative battery terminal to the small terminal on the starter motor, if it turns over the starter is fine, if it doesn't and you have checked all the earths and live like said to do earlyer then you 99% need a new starter or solenoid, if it does turn over either the immobiliser is stuck on or the ignition switch or wiring is at fault, if it's stuck why not bump start it again and drive it back to where you want it

Why not try what popup's already suggested TWICE?? It's probably your best bet! Failing that, stop buying really random (seemingly perpetually broken) cars and stick with one!
