as far as I'm aware the 2.8 xmember just bolts straight in. I'm after a 2.8 tank but cant find a good one.
the exhaust ill just have a go, i've got a welder so should be able to make something up.
i also need to know, there are currently 2 throttle cables, 1 is a speed sensor i think do i need them both?
i've looked on ebay and burtons i need a new aux belt, i also need to a seirra power steering bottle and bracket, i also will need to get a longer power steering pipe.
the original engine looks like it had an oil cooler from around the oil pump should i fit one again?

Not my car, but this shows what I mean... The pilot holes already exist, but need to be drilled out. Then if no reinforcing tube is fitted, the chassis rail will collapse when you tighten it up..

when i stripped the 2.8 it only had 2 bolts in the xmember,
i don't think you need to add the 3rd fixing, but i will check before i fit the engine.

Yeah you only need 2 bolts, for some reason ford had the spacing different for v6 and 4 pot crossmembers

i just need to drill the 2.8 xmember out should be fine. ive cleaned up the gearboxes today the gearlever has come out of the 4 cylinder box and i cant get it back in :cursing:/> and also removed the egr stuff and blocked it off this is what I'm planning if i cant get a decent 2.8 tank thanks

nice progress going on here ;D If you are using the BOA ECU, i'd leave the egr stuff on there if i were you. i didn't on my mk2 granada, and it ran very lean and lacked mid range grunt

Gearboxes are now with a specialist, i think he understood what i meant, he seem confused />
I'm going to make a list of what i have and still need and if anyone knows a good supplier then please let me know.
Engine DONE gearboxes DONE flywheel DONE clutch spiggot bearing DONE 2.8 xmember and engine mounts DONE exhaust system HALF DONE propshalf NEEDS SPECIALIST radiator fuel lines swirl pot lift and high pressure fuel pump shock absorbers caliper spacers and 2.8 discs new throttle cable new engine mount rubbers 190lbs front springs DONE polybushes power steering bottle and pipe got the next 6 months to get all the bits and paint things up. before i strip the car in the summer.

Think I've read the 2.8i throttle cable is a direct fit Also have a look on caprisport to convert the old EGR pipe to feed the brake servo

gearbox all sorted now new brakes and suspension I'm going to replaced the front springs for 190lbs ones and replace the front shocks, also ive got some single leafs to go on. then ill start on the engine

don't know why those pics say there deleted as there still in the photobucket account. stripped of the front suspension today, old shocks had no resistance to them, not the best weather but had a day off and didn't want to waste it

My capris got a friend, sadly the red one had died and will be giving up its parts Mine is getting cosworth engine, mt75 box, coil overs, roller top mounts, big front brakes, LSD axle with rear discs, full exhaust, propshalf already converted, just going to switch it all into mine and sell all my other bits then

Should be fun
My caprisport gtr 260 brakes don't fit over the alloy hubs, so a little bit of grinding is in order, it's only about 1mm too big.
Removed the battery tray, so a quick dusting if crystal green where it was in needed.
I can't get the gear lever out of the mt75 box which is annoying, and need to strip the exhaust and prop off mine, looking at an interior change too.
Going to make this how I want it, just hope I don't go too far of budget.

what about a 280mm upgrade? i enjoyed chopping out my battery tray and rad shroud mines all ground smooth and fillered and i've welded up the inner wing holes (i was thinking smooth bay for my capri but the v8 i'm intending is guna fill the bay so no point as you wont see anything) cant wait to see this done mate
