Hello all. I just drifted over from another forum as I got a bit fed up with the rice burners and new BMWs everyone was getting excited about ther. I've spotted a few faces I recognise here already - you know who you are! I'm in the middle of building a 105E Anglia. I've had it for years but started some work on it, never finished it off, drove it for a bit then took it off the road again. You know the story. Anyway, I got a garage earlier this year so I've been able to strip the car down to nothing and do everything properly. I've gutted the front and set it up for a flipfront and I'm just about to spray the engine bay and put the engine back in. The engine is an oldschool precrossflow out to 1660cc with a full race head, Kent 244 cam, twin 40's, paper thin flywheel etc. This is what it looked like in May just before I started cutting. I can post more pics if anyone is interested as I've been taking them as I went along.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Thanks all. Penski, I don't know what took me so long! Here are a few more pics in date order: Some time around August I cut the wings off as they were rotten and I knew the A pillars would be a bit rusty. Didn't know they were this bad though... Eek#1: Eek#2: It was actually quite easy to fix. I didn't use replacement panels as it's out of view anyway and once undersealed it will be hidden. This is what the repairs look like, they're now painted satin black ready for Shutz over the top:

The front panel was also completely shot so I thought curse word it, time for a flipfront, a bit more grindy cutty noisy stuff and this is what I had: Had to fix the whole top part of the other side: Picked up a flipfront for £30, it's a bit rough but I'm cheapo and I'll fix it:

I picked up an interior for a tenner which arrived a few weeks ago in an odd shaped parcel. Scrubbed it down in the bath. Ultimate death penalty if caught by the girl doing that, almost as bad as finding car parts in the bedroom, so good job she was at work. It looked like it had been stored in a penicillin farm by the amount of mould that was all over it, but Bold 2-in-1 cleaned it all off and it looks near immaculate now. It still smells like an old Ford interior, nothing like the lavender that the washing liquid smells of! Meh, I can live with that Not bad for a tenner. It's all there, the guy even chucked in the arm rests and the little vinyl covers that go over the rear wheel arches. Some pics then. The interior: The flipfront again, it is as rough as it looks in the photo: The recess I put in the firewall: This keeps it well clear of the carbs which are right close to it if you look at the picture I posted at the top. When the engine kicks over too far it rattles the brake and clutch pipes so I decided to recess it 30mm to be on the safe side. It also means I can drop a 2 litre Zetec straight in there if I decide to. Or a normally aspirated Cosworth if one turns up mwahahahaha... Kind of a bit better view from this angle, I'm really pleased with the way it has come out. I was going to put a curve in that bottom bit, but decided cutting the firewall to match would be a nightmare so I went for a 30 degree bend instead. This was an absolute MARE of a job so I don't recommend anyone does this unless they really have to! Here's a little 1200 I picked up for £35: I was going to use that one as a stopgap while I got my other one built as it could have worn my race head, cam and carbs. I have an odd selection of old Ford engines but some parts are compatible and some aren't. To cut a long story short I have a very big bore crossflow bottom end with forged pistons which would have made a tasty 1825cc pre-crossflow ready for nitrous etc. Unfortunately the highest I can get the compression without buying new pistons is about 6:1 so I defected back to my 1660cc block as budget is tight. This just needs rebuilding and it will fire straight up. I'll keep the monster for a rainy day. And that's pretty much it. I've got the engine bay finished and ready for paint so I can drop the engine in when I've built it back up, I might just put it all together next week so it looks like a car again and take some new pics.

Yay, an Anglia owner! looking' good on Lotus rims. My Father-In-Law has a part finished Anglia estate destined for a similar (pre-X and Lotus steels) set-up, I'm sure he'd look on your adjustable struts with some envy! I hope that you'll have them wound down as far as you can! ;D

Looks good. What you gonna use it for? Welcome by the way It's going to be my daily driver and once again terrorise the streets of SE London/Kent The long bit is done now. All I need to do is weld in a new gutter round the boot, reassemble and it's ready to drive. I'm aiming to spray it sometime in the spring when the weather gets a bit better. All my panels are different colours at the mo. Blue front, blue door, green door, black boot. Looks mean but funny. It's 4" lower all round by the way. Can't be half-assed about these things now can we?
