Oooooooh Paul you star! That really is a nice little HA, any info on who built it? Steve  Alas no, but did find out, ford escort mk2 rear axle, home made front axle with escort mk2 uprights and discs, sierra everything else, only one window in whole car the screen... rear hotrod action....at its best... no idea who he was or where he came from but wanted £3k off me to buy it there and then...  needless to say NO I don't own it, too many zeros for me more pics of car in this bunch: www.annteak.com/viva/?page_id=1255 |

Ryan, you are more than welcome to come and visit anytime mate  coggers, the more i look at those pics the more I'm going off the idea of the spoiler.............its the cut out in the top half i don't like.......oh well. Need to get onto your man about a front bib soon Paul, 3grand for a HA was/is a bit steep! Nice car......but i think the seller was prob a bit drunk when he thought up the price  ;D |

I just got a nice little pic ;D  Its a pic of a ford twin-cam flywheel.........but mine has been skimmed 10mm for two reasons........1) To fit a type-9 to a twin-cam you have to space the box from the block 10mm for the clutch to operate properly, hopefully skimming the flywheel should sort this problem and 2) Has anyone on here felt how heavy these are  if i could have lost some more then it would have happened! Thanks to Craig for doing the job.........Top bloke Si has my sump&pick-up pipe at work where he hopes to be able to chop it to the right shape........hopefully should see that back next week Things are happening and I'm excited to get this lump in the bay and start piping and wiring it up which i expect to take the most amout of time Steve |

This afternoon I received Si's handywork.....................   One slightly modified sump and pick-up pipe ;D BIG BIG thanks to Si (B8D) for doing it for me during his lunch breaks! Couldnt wait so got straight into fitting said modified parts and ran into a slight problem.....the pick-up pipe was hitting a casting in the bottom of the sump  no bother really as all that needed doing was cutting the filter head off and turning clockwise a bit so did that..  One re-modified modified pick-up ;D This wasnt a fault on Si's partor myself as we had assumed that the mounting holes of the pick-up pipe flange would be parallel to the sump bolt holes............... slightly off as it would appear ah well, lesson learned..........NEVER assume ;D The engine was given a coat of black VHT cos that was all i had left in the garage and placed in the 'bay to see if all previous probs had been sorted and can report that 99.9% is sorted ;D  Just need to centre the engine&mock g'box up then can start the mountings, should be firmly fixed to the car by the weekend Steve |

Me thinks it aint gonna be quite that easy ;D Spent allday in the garage and have managed to make&fit both engine mounts and one top rad mount no pics as i was proper on a mission and have not long since come in for some breakfast, dinner and lunch  Gonna prob spend all weekend in there trying to finish up all the welding work that i can before my mate starts moaning about how long I'm borrowing his kit Steve |

BTW its looking good in the bay.. si Thanks mate, and i should be ok for keeping the little welder a bit longer now Right then, didnt manage to find any mojo yesterday so cracked on with the car today by doing some bodywork for a change and first on the list of annoying rust-spots was the front wings. Front wings on any Viva are a nightmare when it comes to finding replacements, steel ones come up for sales occasionally but usually for silly money so aint an option for me.......g/fibre ones can be bought new(i think  ) but reports suggest poor fit issues so again not an option so will attempt to make my current ones good. Started on the drivers side first as its the worst one:  Notice the "structural" tape ;D that was required after i made the mistake of poking with a screwdriver. Big hole there(not helped by previous repair work) and rust cracks the full length of the gutter. Heres what i had to start with:  Got jiggy with the dremel and started cutting:  First lot cut out and ready for a plate(or two in this case):  Cut and shaped up the first plate:  And tacked it in:  Then i ran out of welding wire  so thats all i could do today but should be back on it tomorrow night. Ive also got to deal with some rust on the top of the wing which will prob result in more platework which i aint looking forward to. Heres what the prob it:  May not look much but all around the holes is so thin i will have to chop alot out to get back to good metal  ah well i shall try my best. Sorry for the lack of info,this was my second attempt at an update as i managed to delete it by mistake so did a shortened version Steve |

If the metal is also clean underneath, just thin, weld some small plates underneath and fill the hole in with weld and flapwheel off flush on the top. Might be easier |
