hello
i found this site while researching my spaceframe mini project, which at the moment is just a collection of parts and drawings. I'm into this type of car quite alot (not just minis) so if any one is working on similar things i would love to hear about it as i need help and advice to make ideas into the real thing!

MMMMM i like spaceframes, imps are the daddy spaceframes for sure. I'm gonna make one one day, possibly a monocoque carbon effort. What kind of motive power are you going to use? Mini and imp on the front line, i wonder who got to the corner first? Oh and welcome to the site J

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

hello,
thanks for the warm welcome, I'm well suprised!
I'm building, or wanting to build this car - but I'm no rich man, so ive been collecting and buying parts over the last sort of year or so. While ive been doing that ive also been tryin to find out as much as pos on spaceframes and doing a lot of beer token saven.
parts wise it goes a little like this:
-Suzuki G13B 16V engine because: A- they rev high. B- they put out reasonable tourqe. C- at the time i could'nt afford a bike engine and D- it was cheep and came with a free swift! -mutilated mini shell. not sure if i want to use it now though, found a chap making mugure style shells (might have to sell a kidney though) -fibreglass front, doors and boot -a set of 12" coil overs -a front subframe with all h/d adjusabe linkages -a set of 7.5 cooper s disks, hubs and driveflanges (in need of a freshen up) - set of modded metro 4pots and turned down disks - i've also got some rose jointed adjustale bottom arms -some very wide 10" superlights -also got a load of lucas gauges
thats all i can think of right now. i have loads of other stuff cos i do a bit of buying and sellin to try and keep the costs down (the less the wife knows I'm spending the better).
love that pik of the imp and mini- there was a spaceframe imp for sale in the motorsport news the other week, i was soooooo tempted.
would be good to speek to darrenW, pick his brain maybe! anyway thakyou all for the great hello and praise the lowerd indeed!!!!!

Hi. I haven't posted on here for ages again so i thought i'd make an appearence. Your project sounds great. I'm currently building a suzuki powered mini too, sadly it isn't a spaceframe. Not made very much progress on it recently tho. Keep us posted.

Lots of pics here: photobucket.com/albums/v494/psmurfy/Suzuki%20Frame/?start=0I have had to modify the bulkhead slightly so that the inlet manifold clears it. This is not a problem if you use the engine out of a mk1 swift as the fuel injection system is more compact. (didn't realise this untill i had started the subframe) Give me a shout if you need any info. I'll have to update with some more pics. The car is now on its wheels and has all the suspension attached.
