it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

HOW MUCH? ??!111111111111111 £3450 for a 26 year old car, surely they jest. I know it's a beauty and all, but it's certainly not worth that much. That said, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

Top money! Seems a bit optimistic to me, I've never seen one advertised at more than £2k, and don't know if they sold at that. They never came with central locking or electric mirrors either. Have to say that black is a nice colour for them. Shame that you can't see the reg'n, I recall a black one on the 'bay for somewhat less than this. If you're contemplating spending this much then I'll do up my 43k miles yellow one and flog that to you!

I have to agree, although I have no idea about the market in the UK, over here despite them being pretty rare, that would still be considered well high.

cheers guys. I thought it might be a bit wrong. Even though retro J cars are going to be the next gen of classics, they haven't really been recognised yet, so aren't making the prices.
There was a black one that had been stored for 15 years that was in Autotrader and on Ebay, had something like £500-700 price tag as it wasn't road legal, and very faded. Plus we all know how 70's datsuns can rot given the chance.
I haven't put the Saab back on the bay yet. I have had it on here, UKsaabs.co.uk and on the PracticalClassics online classifieds. Had an offer of an H plate 1990 9000 2.3 FPT with grey leather and all the electrics, in Embassy blue as a swap. Sounds nice, but it is still older than the vert so will probably be pre-facelift, but has done about a 3rd the miles. If it was a late aero, or an anniversary I would do the swap, but an early 9000 no matter how good isn't worth much unfortuantley (if you are a seller).
He is supposed to be sending me some piccies. But he is Cwmbran which is a long way to go to swap based on a few photos each way. I'll see what he sends then after Xmas let him down gently, tell him I've decided I want a 944 I think.

As a purely personal thing, it would be worth a little more if it was manual. I love auto 'boxes, but the one in this is an old-fashioned 3-speed with top being direct 1:1, whereas manual has an overdrive 5th which makes for nicer cruising and that's what these old boats are best at (indeed, it could pull even taller gearing if you did a lot of motorway work).
Of course, if you were just going to rip out the engine and 'box and chuck in an RB25 or something then that's a bit academic, but it would be shame to start with such a nice car if that was your plan.
At least this one doesn't seem to have vinyl roof or a sunroof of any description - neither came as standard and were fitted in the UK, causing some real horrors.
PM me if you want to know anything specific about this model - I'm not brilliant technically, but having owned my C210 for nearly 8 years and broken a couple I've got to know a little bit about them.

My list says that black C210 was for sale in Manchester last year, price when I looked at it was £1700+ but don't know what it made in the end, if indeed it met any reserve. Took mine to work yesterday as it was dry and I could avoid the filth of rural Norfolk in the middle of sugarbeet harvest time. As always, a very enjoyable drive with nice lazy performance. Steering came as a shock after the C32 Laurel - that has a rack, whereas C210 has a box which felt very vague. Hmmm, wonder if C32 rack can be fitted? We all dream of barnfind bargains - this is what the yellow car looked like after 5 years of being tucked away, it was a surprise to the old guy's daughter that it was even still there. I am formulating some budget modification plans for it, seems a shame for it just to sit there unused even if it does just end up as donor for the maroon car in the future.

I would to turn something like that over. It's the Howard Carter in me that wants to go mooching and find a real gem like that. Is it back on the road yet? Or is it just waiting for time to do something.

Or is it just waiting for time to do something. Not on the road yet. Drove it round the block before, but fuel pump packed up again so currently sitting with a covering of snow about 8' from where I sit now. If I ask nicely, might be getting some help from another RR member/180B owner who now lives near me
