Surprised nobodys caught on to the late Skoda thing yet, possible cheap projects? Are the engines/gearboxs interchangeable with VW stuff?

imreallyslow in da house: wasn't there was Skoda pickup which vaguely resembles the VW CaddyYepp the Skoda PickUp (based on the Felicia) was made as Skoda only from 1995 to 1997, in 1997 VAG decided it would be sold as a VW Caddy to and from 1998 to 2003 it was sold as a VW and in 2000 the Skoda label was dropped on the PickUp, the major differences are that the Skoda has curse word paintwork and rusts like crazy while the VW has a normal VAG paint job other differences is the Skoda was first available with the old 1.3 Eastblock pushrod motor and a 1.6L VAG Diesel (non turbo) the VW was sold with a 1.6L 8valve gasoline or 1,6L VAG Diesel (also non turbo). Besides having VW or Skoda names on they look the same, this goes for Sweden the rest of Europe I don't know..... I have a 2000 (last year) Skoda with the 1.3L Eastblock motor, as I said the paint job was curse word and rust started to break trough all over so I decided to give it a go with a sander & primer but all that was needed to cut down the paint was a Scotch Brite sponge, green side, unbelivable curse word paint job. It has rolled on cut down springs, 6X15" Seat Ibiza TDI steelies with 175-55-15 Smart tires and Moon Discs, looks cool but it needs Air Ride to be able to haul bikes in the back so for the winter I put in a set of stock springs and winter tires and for next spring it will get Air Ride rear and the cuts up front..... Skoda PG here in Sweden races a Diesel Skoda and has the low et for a diesel car/truck here in Sweden..... www.skodapg.se/Skoda PG's truck, maybe not my taste but a nice truck... Another Swedish Skoda that I don't like at all..... At the E38 Forum there's another yellow truck with Air Ride and a softer look......

That yellow truck seems to have its doors mounted incorrectly, I hope the owner is aware of this potentially dangerous and rather daft-looking fault. Also the Rover 216 grille looks ultra-sh@t.

The front bumper is Skoda but the spoiler grafted on there might be....

The front engined Skoda (the retro ones (Felicia and Favorit)) still used a variation of the 1.0/1.2/1.3 Skoda motor, firstly, getting SPi, then MPi, then growing to 1.4 litre and being used in the early Octavia and Fabia 1.4 8valves, then the 1.0 re-appeared out side of CZ with a new alloy 16v head and got used in the Lupo and Arosa. that motor never got used in a Skoda outside of CZ, don't know about inside, but they did have some kind of 1.0 Fabia poverty spec.
the VAG 1.6 petrol and 1.9 SDi did get used in the Felicia, so other engines can be used. Awesome GTi squeezed a VR6 into a Felicia, and there have been various attempts in CZ to build super or turbocharged 1.6's in felicia. I imagine a G40 could slot in easy enough, but I would prefer to try to megasquirt a 1.3 on bike slide style individual throttle bodies.
I think a "Luxury" modded Felicia 1.3 might be next car, if any curse word will please by my Saab, or at least come see it.

meatballturbo in da house: with a new alloy 16v head and got used in the Lupo and ArosaWould that head fit a 1.3L MPi motor? How much of a conversion is it? Are you 100% sure about this or just "heard of it" ? I have a spare 1.3L Mpi motor standing in a corner and I would like to fit a supercharger (can't stand those snurrljuddämpare aka turbos) and dump it in the Shop Hack but if the 16valve head was an easy fitment I can get one of those and get some extra pepp.... I need to know this for sure......

Skoda pics ups. Came as a Skud pick up in petrol / diesel but way more interesting is the Felicia Fun! I have no idea what that CZ race series is but i've come across a few pics of it on the net. Favorit's are calling out to be modified...

Found thses while browsing the monster web, and thought id share then with youse lot THis is a 4x4 favorite with one of those air colled 3.5 V8's in it, from a russian car? J 3.5 aircooled V8? A modified Tatra engine maybe? I know those are Czech and not Russian, but I'm struggling to think of Russian, aircooled V8 cars. Either way it's bloody cool!

yes it was to be a mid engined Tatra powered V8 4x4 Favorit. Then VW came along and scuppered that.

the question really is , would that 16v arosa engine bolt into an estelle? or would the head fit, say, the 1.4 engine mentioned as fitted to pov spec octavias and would that fit an estelle/rabid?

MrSigma has got straight to the nub of the matter there!
I though all those 16v lumps were 100% VW origin.
