Don't know if this info might be of use for anyone (but I know theres a few Satin Black/Nato Green fetishists on this site).
Has anyone tried the tins of Humbrol Spray paint that come in normal rattle can size?
I've been very well pleased !
Although for doing large areas on model kits the paint sticks to metal just as well (but still be advised to primer as always) and is waterproof (although as it is matt you'd be just as well to go over it with the 'oily rag').
They do it in Matt Black which is ideal for say a bonnet (you would need 2 or 3 cans) and Army Green, khaki plus many others including a few gloss & Silver.
I have used it and it gives a better coverage than normal car spray cans.
I've sprayed only the Matt colours (so can't coment on the gloss) on areas of military vehciles (Ammo Boxes, Radio case's) and the paint seems to stand up to the elements.
My local model shop charges slightly less for this paint than what the motor factors does for Car paint.
Just a thought for certain vehicles you may have
