I just read this thread start to finish... WOW. I've been off of this forum for 6-7 years, but I accidentally bumped into a mint condition 850 for sale the other day and started googling. This is, as many have said before me, EPIC! Thanks for really making my day, Trent! Very sad to read about the loss of your wife, but the world keeps on turning, and I was really glad to read on and see that you did too!
Keep up the good work, I'll definitely bookmark this thread!

Often wondered where this project went since I have been a follower for who knows how long over on GRM forum. Subscribed here for more progress.

Nice wheels, I've seen the centers but can't place them. What are they off of? I just scored these for my next 850 build.

Absolutely amazing build, I've been looking at a lot of build threads for 850's for ideas on mine and yours is truly inspirational. I'm going to be restoring a 69 850 spider but also love to go fast and want it to be my daily driver. I plan on upgrading the stock motor but will most likely do a swap later. I know you were thinking of doing a swap as well but can't find a light enough engine, I've been looking at the ford 1.0L ecoboost and leaning that direction and converting the car to all wheel drive(ultimate goal). What do you think of the 1.0 ecoboost its small enough and not a bike engine?

Sorry to hyjack the thread but Man ! My dream car! a RUSTFREE 850 spider. Never seen one that's not rusty ! Me jealous !! I build my latest 600 with an fiat 127 sport engine. It flew ! I dared not go faster than a 160 kilometers an hour. Autobianchi 112 abarth engines fit also. Reasonably reliable , and stay in Classic territory.

I am loathe to admit that only very minor work has been done in the last year. Work has been very busy. Our body shop manager up and ran off leaving us very behind and it took a long time to find some suitable new people and get caught up. He was also the person I had made the deal with to do the body and paint so that left me hanging. In the mean time my daily driver was wrecked No big deal as I wasn't terribly attached to it, but that made me resuscitate the Falcon as my every day car. Which was all sorts of ball ache as it developed a ton of issues from sitting unused for 18 months. And then I foolishly bought another car that "only needed a motor rebuild" so should have been a quick project. 4 weeks later the 1098 engine still hasn't been touched at the machine shop And seeing as how the mini stinks of mouse curse word I am now in the process of changing out the interior whilst I wait for the block and crank to be machined. The good news is that one of the new gents in the body shop is excited about doing the work on the 850 and has a lot of trade work that he needs done. The kind of stuff that is in my wheelhouse if you will. I get the opportunity to perform the BMW K100 head swap on a mini A series engine for him and he is happy about doing the arch extensions and paintwork on my Fiat. It is a perfect match.
