I know this isn't the section for cars for sale but I really think this deserves a wider audience. Original Beetle in unrestored condition, just superb and the look that some people spend a lot of time trying to fake. Genius! Ad here (nowt to do with me) - www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C116863/

Very nice, not bad money for an Oval provided it is only 'light' work needed.

i was only looking at something similar earlier today, though more of a rat than just having 'patina'..... looks fcuked but imagine the mot tester rubbing his hands together when you roll up and then his surprise when he checks out the underneath...... nowt to do with me, heres the original thread... z13.invisionfree.com/VolksRods_UK/index.php?showtopic=4531

^^^Thats a hot rod, when it was used as a derogatory term. Or maybe gow job, though iirc that may just apply to model t's.
Proper rat look then - perfect undercarriage and patina'd outer surfaces.

Most of my cars come with "patina" and always have done, cant understand why its become fashionable, it just looks like (like me) you can do all the other jobs except spraying.

First beetle looks lovely as is , I do have a thing for a bit of patina and even a touch of rust but in this climate (UK) is it not asking for trouble. My daily has gone from a little rusty patch to oops, I just put me finger through the wing in the space of a 18 months. Maybe that beetle could be seriously anchor waxed or something, personally I wouldn't want to change it but I would be scared it would dissolve, then again I doubt you would run it year round.

Apologies for a double post..i put this in the Abandoned thread..my studio flat is in a storage warehouse..so bays that have a ginormous unpaid bill eventually get bust open by the landlord..and in it was this..1966 Beetle which i helped a Volksknut friend of mine acquire for $100..sound underneath ..all tyres inflated and brakes were free...my mate was quite impressed cos hed just bought a 62 minter for $6000..

which reminded me of this..Splitty in Napier about 10 years ago..story was..owned by well known greenie..somebody did a hit n run on him on his bicycle which left him severely brain damaged so his famous Kombi was left to rot in his garden..it may even still be there..it looked incredible..covered in lichen and rare moss'!..and apparently there was a Morris Minor in the garage behind it..
