Quite simply as the title says Remember it in the 1980's (although I think it started in 1975, officially). It was a proper 'Cruise' and not a bunch of Wallys in McyD's car park ;D. It was mainly for 50's Yank Tanks and Hot rods but all seemed welcome. Held on last Saturday of the month, used to parade up and down the Kings Road in Chelsea, London and then break of for a rest at other side of river in Battersea Park. Remember a couple of times car clubs actually had one of their annual events within it. Also remember as it went on into the early hours of the morning you'd have the bikers seeing who could pull the longest wheelie along the Battersea Bridge (everyone just lining up to watch ) ;D Aaaah Memories

Chelsea Cruise was legendary when I was just getting into cars, so much so that once we had a "vehicle" (brothers Pink Minor Pick Up) we drove down from Leeds just for the night, getting home at 4am.
Also a moment of glory for me was when I took the Kitten and it got photographed for Car magazine with Russel Bulgin (RIP) looking at it astonished.

He took a Merc 190 Evo II Benz didn't he? The one with the big wings and stuff. I *loved* his work. RIP

There was talk about this at the Ace Cafe tonight, apparently it is still on, last Saturday of every month. Open to Yanks and classics I believe.

I'm glad it still happens and I hope it is 'in the spirit' of the original days (and not the idiot brigade, complete with 'Thud, Thud' music )

I used to go when I got my first car...they were definitely good times. I used to love the Lakeside cruise too, in it's Hot Rod and Custom car heyday. There were literally thousands of top class cars there in Tescos car park!
I remember seeing Nick Rutherford's '33 Ford there for the first time. Mindblowing! I also remember seeing Tom Radford's SD1 on it's maiden outing to the Dutch House - another (smaller) London cruise.

I used to go along to the Chelsea Cruise during my formative years. It used to be AMAZING back in the day. Wall to wall with big, beautiful Yanks, Rods, Customs... Glad to hear it's still going. Might just have to pop along in the Chammy when she's done. I'm

Yes Lakeside, I had forgotton about that cruise. That was another mad night out in the Kitten from Leeds. The most amazing bit for me was my boss who travelled down with me managed to fall asleep in the car on the way home!
