God there's a few Scirocco's being restyled here. Regardless of blame, I'm sure that the lazy brakes don't help matters! LOL I was about to say exactly the same thing. I've scratched my Ma's Ka driving round the yard. That's the height of it because I'm not 17 yet.

never had the pleasure of driving a rocco but arnt the brakes pretty big golf lumps with a servo? All Scirocco's have (small IMO) 239mm (I think) front discs with rear drums. They're servo'd but the servo and master cylinder is on the near side where you'd expect it for left hand drive. The master cylinder can't be located on the OS for right hand drive as there isn't the room. Now, when the car was brand new back in the day, you'd have thought that the brakes were merely average. Now that the youngest Scirocco's are 17 and the oldest must be getting on for 35, and there's a load of slop in the linkage, the brakes are usually curse word. The servo is pretty marginal on them too. I've put 253mm front discs on mine from a late mk2 16v Golf gripped by old Audi Coupe calipers. This was a big improvements. As was braided hoses, making sure the rears were well adjusted and the linkage is in good order. One day, I'd like to put a proper pedal box in with the master cylinder attached and do away with the servo. A Scirocco is barely 900kgs and IMO, therefore doesn't need a servo.

I havent got any piccies of mine but i had a mini as my first car. was racing someone, i went to turn a right hand junction and he side swiped me. Spun me right round and i stoped on the verge just short of someones wall. hole rear quarter wiped out.
I had a 306 which i stuck into the back of a transit, towbar straight through the front.
My best one i had a mk5 fiesta. Came off a round about onto the on slip for a dual carridgeway, where a car come up the outside of me, there was i conronted with a car stoppe dinfront of me, swereved to miss it and just clipped the side. I went to get out of the driveres door but couldnt as the front wheel was now beside the door!! The women whos car i hit reckoned it had broken down but when the recovery came to get mine he got in hers and drove it out the way!! Fired the airbags off and everything. iv got some pictures of that one but cant find them..

Mine was an early CL model with smaller non vented discs and smaller calipers. What with that, the infamous linkage that saps away braking efficiency, and the fact the driver ran a give way sign and hit someone head on, it was always going to end in tears!
