Evening all
My boss has recently brought a R4 van to do the mongral rally (I think, head of on Boxing day for 4000+ miles in an old banger). But to keep with-in the budget, he has brought one with a blown head gasket. Having put 2 new ones and still using up all its water in 300m (spraying out the exhaust) he is now puzzled. He is going to check that the head is flat, but when they last had the head off, the rear most piston liner could be "wobbled" where as the rest couldn't. This doesn't sound normal to me, could this be the cause of the gasket issues?
All 3 gaskets have come off looking OK. What is the best method for cleaning the block/head face on these? On Mini heads I use a wetstone to get them clean.
Any other advice on these engines, please bung it in as well
Cheers
Craig
