the easiest way would be to drive over with a morris marina and drop this off at my place and drive home with a retro of your choice ill be takin your 71 fastback then.... now where did i leave the keys to that pesky marina ;D

I'd agree with MrJ. Ive done it a few times, and the trip back is definately part of the experience. You can apparently get breakdown insurance from the ADAC, as the English companies will only cover you on a UK registered vehicle. Last time I did it, I couldnt get a UK Insurance company to give me cover in Europe on the chassis number, they would only do it once it was in the UK, so export plates and insurance (third party only... sleep in the car!) are the best way to do it! I have done it another way, with plates off another vehicle and continental insurance on that number, but I dread to think of the consequences had I been stopped! We got stopped at customs on the way back, as it was obvious to them that the vehicle had never left the country - I assume they have some kind of database - they gave us a right grilling but once we came clean they werent interested, we just removed the plates and drove home with none (already had UK insurance arranged). I'll hopefully be doing it again soon if I can find a nice T3 or T4 Multivan
