As there seems to have been a bit of interest in these articles recently, and I found a few while sorting stuff out, thought I'd post a few. For anyone not familiar with these series, they ran for many years in Street Machine. Some ideas a little strange, and you have to hope that no good cars got butchered trying to build something similar. Hot Car and Custom car sometimes did something similar, so I've posted those too. Enjoy! You could guarantee that IMSA look would often feature on anything in the early 80's. This A55 has very ambitiously widened arches following the swage line. Gulp. Posted this one of Manta A (bad) and Scirocco (good) before, but worthy of repeat I thought.

First - Thanks for the scans, I love seeing this kid of thing Second, it might be a stupid question, but what's 'IMSA look'? Never heard of it before...

why can i never see spottedlaurels pics, do i smell or summat? Not as far as I know, it's nothing personal :-) I'm using Imageshack to upload images, can everyone else see them OK? And what does IMSA stand for? To be quite frank, haven't got a clue! International Motor Sports Association? It seemed to involve a fair bit of power in something with big fat arches, as Darren's pic's point out well. However, don't recall many road cars carrying the look off very well, perhaps difficult to get ride height and wheel/tyre sizes right for road use?

I have the issue with the A55 in on my bedside table It's the one with the radical MK1 Sceptre in Those Steve Kirk drawings are great, albeit with a large dose of artistic licence used... proportions 'stretched' ect... ...and you could always guarentee there would be a question in 'Custom Q&A' the next month asking 'where can I buy the spoiler/bodykit on the Cortina/Isetta in last month's Motorvation...'

|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

A few more from which I've scanned extracts..... Don't think I've ever seen a modified Landcrab 1800/2200 of any description, now I know why. BTW Apologies if the picture is doubled-up, it's an experiment to see if mrsigma can see my images.

Don't think I've ever seen a modified Landcrab 1800/2200 of any description. There's a chopped Landcrab hearse around, but I can't seem to find any pictures... I toyed with the idea of doing a 'tongue in cheek' kustom job on the Landcrab I had a few years ago... I would love to see if it's possible to sort out an 'adjustable' hydrolastic system... ;D
