OK... this is what I know.
The Rochester Quadrajet was introduced on 1965 model Oldsmobiles and became the standard fit carb for GM passenger products by the 70s. It was produced into the 80s with computer control.
The first models were leak prone and problematic.
When working properly a suitable Quadrajet gives good performance, economy and drivability.
My 1965 Oldsmobile has lost its original Qjet and now has a Holley carb which I think is incorrectly sized for the motor.
I have a Quadrajet off a 1979 Cadillac sitting in the garage.
The Oldsmobile is a 425" big block. The Cadillac was a 425" big block.
OK. See where this is all going?
There are tons of resources out there for chosing, rebuilding, tuning Holley carbs, Carter AFBs AVS and the like, but does any one have recomendable resources for Quadrajet stuff? I need info and I need a rebuild kit. I don't know what goes wrong with them and don't want to buy "everything" as I'm tight for cash. I am prepared to buy a book even.
Also I don't think my carb is a computer one. How do I tell a good one from a bad one etc.
Just stuff.
As I know very little about this carb and what I do know may even be wrong. LOL
