Another vote for BMW ;D I was using an E36 (N reg) 328i for 3 years and sold it a few months ago. All the toys 35mpg on a run (only once - but it's possible ), averaged about 28mpg over the 3 years (including LOTS of hard driving ;D ) or one of the 5 or 7 series , a lot of car for the money Not mine, but it's up for grabs - retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=FSW&action=display&thread=67603&page=1Have heard good things about Merc 300D's ( they are happy to run on chip fat )

Remember that brilliant bug-eye Scorpio in a lowrider stylee? A TD Scorpio would be cheap, well-equipped and frugal (and there's always the potential for a future Cossie conversion...) I have the 24v ultima... gets 30 on a run (if you stick to the speed limit... 25 if you go BMW baiting) and a not too bad 20-25 around the doors (lots of hills and stop-start, big heavy car) went to liverpool and back the other day for some ebay things, 330 miles, £50 in juice. Comfy and all the toys too. WAY cheaper to buy than anything else similar spec/age (I got a '98 S plate and mot'd it for a year for less than £500) plus scorps are 4x108 pcd not 5 stud so cool wheels abound. coils alround too.Mine now trails the mudflaps on the road

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

LPG tax breaks are set to stay until at least 2012 I believe as although it doesn't burn cleaner it needs less refining so is still greener than petrol or diesel overall. I remember diesel being cheaper cos it wasn't mainstream and was supposedly more enviromentally-friendly than petrol cos it was more economical and needs less refining. I also remember the tax break for historic cars was gonna be a rolling 25 years... Not a personal dig, but I don't trust what any of the lying b*****ds say, just have to live with the consequences... Anyway, rant over... Can I put both my hands up for the Senator/Carlton GSi? Think you should get out and drive as many of these type cars as possible. There is a big difference between some of them. I know where I would (and have on five occasions) put my money... Here's one... cgi.ebay.co.uk/1993-VAUXHALL-SENATOR-CD-24V-A-SILVER_W0QQitemZ110444701252QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item19b7046644
