Couldn't believe my eyes when I stumbled across this at my local wreckers! NEVER seen another in the country, took the water bottle and steering column for my project, was very tempted to take more, (especially teh side trim/door handles - very cool!). Does anyone know if these space age creations were officially imported to Aus? This one was last registered in 78! wondering if it may have been a private import or motor show special.

I agree, very little rust and absolutely complete aside from the couple of tiny bits I took, unfortunately we have dodgy law over here that basically means once a car has entered a wrecking yard it can't be put back on the road.

I think this must have been a personal import, Corsair ceased production in the UK in 1969, and I don't think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the Corsair was ever produced in Australia looks like it originally a 1700 V4 - as the 2000E had a vinyl roof column or floor change?
I certainly prefer the original Corsair, to the re-badged Nissan

Did they all come with the crazy indicator/headlight wing on the RHS of the steering column? never seen anything like it but it works brilliantly!

Nope, not officially imported but there is one guy that has a collection of a few English fords that has one (an aftermarket convertable) and there are a few floating around. There's one in Perth on ebay I think. Pick Pay N Go hey? they get some tasty cars in there

yeah, always something interesting there, and some of the staff are quite nice and give cheap prices for weird stuff. few old holdens (oldest maybe FC?), rover and a type 3 in the classic corner at the moment, as well as a fintail merc and mk1 corona floating out in the general yard.

Yep, if only it could be done legally. Would make a great parts cat for someone, if there were any more in the state to need parts!

Are you sure? Going back to the 80s I can recall seeing them around now and again. I had always assumed they were sold here by the factory. I haven't seen one outside of a classic car show in a long long time though. I guess they wouldn't appeal much to the average Australian Ford nut. Edit - maybe my memory is starting to fail me after all. Can't find any evidence on Google to suggest they were sold here. I'm still sure I used to see a number of them getting around. Maybe they were all private imports. I wonder if this is the one I spotted on a property several years ago on back road near Sugarloaf reservior, along with a pair of Mk1 cortina, (early pre-'aeroflow' facelift cortina shared that wild 'wing' column stalk). Further down the same road was a 1964(?) Daihatsu Compango. Speaking of Abandoned-looking oddities, there's still a Matra Bahgeera on Warrigal Rd Oakleigh.

Sounds like I need to get to sugarloaf! ( no I don't, too many projects already) Amazing what is around. When I was asking around for a unique project I was offered a Bagheera, a jowlett javelin, an nsu ro80 and a cooper spec Morris landcrab amongst other things
