...satin black the Cedric YES its a cliche YES its done to death BUT I cant help but love the look it gives!! I saw an old 50's sled which obviously had shiny black at some point but had just slightly matted and it look so damn killer I fell in love with it again! I wanted this car black to begin with but it aint straight enough for shiny-shiny-gloss-ness. I'm kinda already going off the purple and want it looking 'meaner' ready for the imminent stick-carnage (yes, it's coming!) In my head I'm hearing "jeez, satin black, talk about cliche'd, you need to do something new & interesting with it...people are just gonna be all 'errgh, what a cop-out - talk about predictable!'" but my heart & taste is just really begging me to satin black it, slam it and roll around looking mean!

Hmm, Not keen on matt black, Whenever i see one i just think it's a cheap cop out to cover crappy paintwork underneath, Reminds me of chaved tatty Polo's and the like (No offence Polo owners) but as they say You ride... Your way i guess.

I'm lovin the purple lots, however I'm a sucker for satin black and it would look ace on the Cedric it's got the right shape and look. Satin black + Chome = Nische! "Your ride, your way" dude, do what makes you happy. Not like it's a 4 grand respray to change it again

its always a good look on the right car, and yeah the cedric is the right car IMO
but like you say, maybe a tad 'safe'. Still I never see a cedric on the road, nevermind a modified cedric, nevermind a satin black one sooooooooooooooooooooooo........
I mean its not like everyone is rocking a satin black datsun.
Cliche is a Mk1 escort on minilites
Or a Nova on speedline allessios
I seem to have gone to wheels instead of paint.
I'm distracting myself.

I don't think either paint has much point to it if you are going to repaint it properly. Just spending more time and money (even if it isn't very much) not moving towards your ultimate goal

Just spending more time and money (even if it isn't very much) not moving towards your ultimate goal My ultimate goal is "as low as possible, as mean as possible" To paint it would cost maybe £30 and 3 evenings of my time...not much of a loss. Its gonna be ages until I can find 2.5K for the bags and I gotta buy a house with a garage before I can baremetal it!

I say go for it. It needs to be satin and not matt black though. I've been thinking how cool satin black would be with laquered in stripes. Or maybe satin black with a laquered shiny roof. I was thinking about doing the boot on my BMW satin black with laquered in rally stripes.

I think it would look ace, the only reason not to is the peer pressure "Oh noes not another satin/matt black car".. and that aint a reason is it?! Whats next?.. "Oh noes, not another lowered car!"??

I like the look of the satin purple tbh especially contrasting against the red rear lights.I would be tempted to have red wheels and roof to match, preferably in flake. ;D
How about just re-painting the roof? You could do it in satin black to see how you liked it or even gloss black if the roof's straight enough.

"Hi I'm Paul McKenna, and I'm going to convince YOU not to satin black your Cedric" "Look into my eyes, look into the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around the eyes, look into my eyes(clicks) you're under, Don't do it Johnny, it ain't gonna work, it is ace as it is,.... 3, 2, 1, you're back in the room."

I rather like it in purple, I'll very much like it in black (espesially if ya get a bit more paint on it this time).
Go for it, if it makes ya feel better about the car, even if its a step sideways rather than forward its a good thing and will keep your mojo in it for the long run.

;)leave it purple until the final job, it 'breaks the mould' a bit, purple = effort ,satin balck = cant be arsed imo, maybe bozo/shako style pinstriping if you really want to do something, [after all it will one day be getting the final 'do' ]

£30 and 3 evenings of your time are unlikely to give a satisfactory job... Waste of £30 and 3 evenings of your time. Do it properly or not at all. its a good car, do it justice.

i quite like it in purple, i'm sure i'd like it in black. your car dude, but i think you'd be better off spending the time n effort slaming it and swapping on some nice wheels. then paint it satin black... ;D

Nothing wrong with satin black.. or the purple.. or orange or..... I think the quality of the finish makes much more difference than the colour or whether it's gloss/satin/matt.. And so I'm with Alistair and the gov'ner, no point until you can do a decent job on it. Go satin black by all means, just do a good job of it if you're going to
