Hi guys, been on the forum for a while now and thought id put up a thread about my e36 and what ive done to it since owning it for just over a year. its a 1995 m42 which had 70k miles when i bought, and it looked like this - First real change i made was to fit hottuning coilovers, as well as smoking the front indicators, fitting anthracite facelift kidney grilles and removing the spoiler and towbar. - Then came the M bumpers and side mouldings, complete with US spec number plate blanking trim... Finally, I desperatly wanted some style5's so when these bad boys came up i couldnt resist... after a few months of refurbing they looked like this - and with some 205/40's for a cheeky bit of stretch i finally got them on the car Next up will be a twin exit exhaust as the 318is pea shooter isnt filling the M3 diffuser well and doesnt realy look the part. When i finally find employment and save up a bit of money i'l be looking on to something a bit more retro and with more power potential, possibly an e30 325 anyway, i know its not retro but i hope you guys like anyway ;D

Fine effort mate although the tinted indicators would be much classier in clear I reckon. Good work on the rims though. Look great against the blue body colour.

Looks damn hot mate. Those wheels are fapping lovely. Contrary to above, I actually really like the tinted indicators.

BBS split on a low E36 is just perfect. Much better than the Alpina replicas which are if I use the right BMW teminology "Council" lol! Looks spot on mate

Damit, first I thought "finally a clean e36 without a m-kit and bbs rims"...
Good looking car anyway.

That looks lovely. Definitely feeling this shape BM at the moment. Think this will almost certainly be my next car, M3.....Mmmmm Mind you, let me know when you sell it on, the 318is is supposed to be pretty pokey, what's it like?

thanks for the replys, i change my mind about the tinted indicators everyday, they look a bit different to the usual clear ones and keep the front end nice and dark, but I'm considering tryin out some ambers the alpinas are council and quite bland realy, they are now relegated to winter wheel status Dude - there are some nice examples of non m-tech e36's on various other rims i have to agree, i just personaly love the m-tech bumpers and think they enhance the look and look more up to date. to polish the rims i sanded them from an 80 grit right through to 2000, before using a polishing compound and drill attachment to get them to the final shine. The 318is is no comparisson to the m3, or even the bigger capacity 6pots, but it is a nice revvy engine, nice standard exhaust tone and pulls well enough while still being capable of sensible mpg's

IMO it needs the rear wheels spacing, but other than that its spot on.

Liking it, lots! Those wheels on an e36 are perfection. Agree with stylz a bit - some spaceage on the rear would make it look heavy.

Looks amehzin, I've got an m44 318ti, I would love to know if your engine pops on idle, I've taken mine to bmw and they can't diagnose it, rough idle, but quite fast otherwise!

Excellent job, I had an is coupe a couple of years ago, the M42 engine is a peach and is only fitted to that particular car. Handling is spot on too, light and well balanced. Infact it spurred me on to get my current one, E39 535i sport, lovely! One thing that is worth doing is changing the flywheel, the stock one is massive to try and control the engine a bit, the engine was designed with touring car racing in mind and so had to be strangled for the road. Like it J
